TechWeek 2026 closed the way it should. With someone who is actually building it.

Bapu Kota, Head of Enterprise Technology and Business Platforms at Reliance Retail, closed the week on Day 5 with a session that went under the hood. Not the vision. Not the strategy. The build.

Four ideas that stayed with us.

1. The pace is unforgiving. What was new two weeks ago is already stale. The only durable response is to stay grounded in outcomes, not tools.
2. Data is the foundation, not a byproduct. Data is the fabric on which the new AI-led foundation stands. The flywheel starts there and nowhere else.
3. This transformation belongs to every team. Every sub-team, every department, every division — no matter the role — must identify what AI capability means for them. Balanced belief is not optional.
4. The rhythm that makes it real. Outcomes, workflows, platforms, governance. That is the sequence. That is how vision becomes velocity.

Five days. One shared conviction.
The conversations don't stop here. The build continues.

What if the most forward-thinking ideas about AI were written thousands of years ago?

That was the idea Prateek Mathur, SVP and Group Strategy Head at Reliance Retail, set out to explore on Day 4 of TechWeek 2026. In a session that connected Indian mythology to modern AI strategy, four ideas stood out.

1. The Astra and the prompt are the same thing. In Sanskrit, an Astra is a directed force activated by the right words, in the right sequence, with the right intention. A prompt works exactly the same way. The quality of what AI gives you is a direct function of what you bring to it.
2. AI is the newest Astra and wisdom will decide how well we use it. Power without wisdom is dangerous. As AI becomes more capable, the responsibility to use it with clarity and intent only grows.
3. Artificial intelligence can never replace real intelligence. The future is not humans versus AI. It is humans becoming far more capable because of AI. Every future team will be a combination of people and agents. That is the only model that works.
4. AI success is not a function of technology maturity only. It is a function of organisational maturity as well. Buying tools is the easy part. Building the culture, the processes, and the mindset to use them well is where the real work is.

Some conversations stay with you long after the session ends.

On Day 3 of TechWeek 2026, Gaurav Aggarwal, Chief AI Scientist at Reliance Jio, sat down with Ajin Pisharody for one of the most candid and technically grounded conversations of the week. No prepared script. Just real talk from someone building affordable AI for India.

Four ideas that cut through:
1. Start with the outcome, not the tool. If we were to build this from scratch today, how would it look? That is the question every team should be sitting with. AI-native thinking is outcome first, always.
2. Upskilling does not have to be a programme. It starts with what frustrates you. Identify every repetitive, low-judgement part of your work and ask how AI removes it. That is not just upskilling. It is a better way to work.
3. Affordable AI is not just a business ambition. It is a mission. The standard we are building towards is AI so accessible that people do not have to think twice about using it. That is the Jio moment for AI.
4. AI is the vehicle. The destination is what matters. Use what gets you there. Refusing to engage is not caution. It is simply falling behind.

Five days. One shared conviction.
