Recent food-safety inspections have reported everything from live insects in pistachios and rodent droppings to mould, unsafe food handling and adulterated spices.
FSSAI has recently suspended licences of major food manufacturers including VKC Nuts and Chheda Specialities over serious food-safety violations. Separately, Hyderabad authorities reportedly seized 25,000+ kg adulterated spices.
