Nidhi Rai has decades of experience in the ecommerce industry and she was one of our guests for a Friday Chaiday session this summer and she spoke in detail about online ecommerce, focussing on little steps that can be taken to result in more sales.

Bhartesh Vaibhav, an engineer by profession chose to become a weaver and setup his workshop with 10 looms to making handloom. He learned the craft by spending time with more experienced weavers. Today, he moves forward in his endeavour by providing employment to other weavers in the Ajmer area and by ensuring his work is made available across the popular ecommerce platforms, thus working tirelessly to make handloom a fabric of choice.

Bhartesh speaks about some of the most unique and rare works he has had the opportunity to make and explains the process behind these sought after fabrics.

Pattu weaving has been around for a very long time with no documentation pointing to its origin. This weaving style uses geometric patterns and motifs take inspiration from the surrounding landscapes. Pattu weaving is typically done on a pit loom and includes the very special extra-weft style that resembles an embroidery style and was traditionally done using the local sheep and camel wool. Today Pattu weaving is used to make dhurries and shawls mainly.
