Welcome back to Tea For You! Today, we are brewing something incredibly prestigious. It’s light, it's aromatic, and tea connoisseurs around the globe call it the 'Ch*****ne of Teas'. Yes, we are talking about the legendary Darjeeling Tea. Let’s explore what makes this tea so extraordinarily unique and how you can brew the perfect cup at home.
Grown in the misty, high-altitude gardens of West Bengal, India, Darjeeling tea changes its character with every harvest season, known as 'flushes'. The First Flush, harvested in spring, gives you a fresh, floral, and vibrant green cup. The Second Flush, picked in summer, brings out a deep amber liquor with a distinct 'muscatel' or sweet grape-like flavor.
To truly enjoy Darjeeling tea, skip the milk and sugar.
Bring fresh water to just under a boil (around 90°C or 195°F).
Add one teaspoon of whole loose leaves to your teapot.
Pour the water and let it steep gently for 3 to 4 minutes.
Strain into your favorite cup and take a moment to inhale that floral aroma.
