The craft of Parchinkari (also known as Pietre Dura or marble inlay) is one of India's most celebrated decorative art forms. Originating in Italy and refined to perfection in 17th-century Mughal India, this art form remains alive today through the direct descendants of the royal craftsmen who adorned the Taj Mahal.

What Makes Parchinkari Unique

Unlike painted or surface-carved marble, true inlay involves hand-chiseling delicate channels into a solid marble base. Semi-precious stones are meticulously hand-ground, shaped, and fitted into these grooves with microscopic precision using natural adhesives.
