This is the story of Raghunath Kaka from Gogalgai.
He is 67 years old.
For more than four decades, he has spent his mornings at the same wooden workbench.
The same tools.
The same careful hands.
The same patience.
Ask him how many toys he has made over the years.
He probably won't know.
Ask him how to make one.
And he will quietly show you.
Not through instructions.
Not through diagrams.
Not through a training manual.
But by sitting beside him and watching.
Because some knowledge cannot be written down.

How much pressure to apply.
How long to sand a surface.
How to know when something is finished.
How to turn a piece of wood into something a child will treasure.
Next year, Raghunath Kaka plans to retire.
And that raises a question.

When Shantaram Shet was searching for toys for his son, he found plenty of options.
But very few that reflected the childhood he remembered.
Toys that encouraged curiosity instead of consumption.
Play that brought people together instead of keeping them apart.
Stories, skills and traditions that had quietly disappeared from modern shelves.
That search led him across India.

To artisans, workshops, craft clusters and families that had been making toys for generations.
Many of them had the skill.
Many of them had the knowledge.
But very few had the visibility.

Today, Gogalgai brings together toys, games, crafts and handmade products from across India under one roof.

Not just to sell them.
But to ensure that the traditions behind them continue to find a place in modern homes.
Because childhood should be filled with imagination.
Because artisans deserve to be seen.
Because some traditions are too valuable to lose.

Most teenagers will spend the next year studying subjects.
