The Swiss didn’t build the ultimate space watch.

In 1967, Soviet engineers were handed an impossible brief:

Build a 200m combat diver, but don’t infringe on a single Western patent.

The result was the Vostok Amphibia.
It defies conventional watchmaking.

The crown intentionally wobbles to absorb shock.

The massive acrylic crystal flexes under extreme pressure.

Instead of fighting depth with static seals, the case uses the surrounding pressure to compress itself.
The deeper you dive, the tighter it gets.

It’s so bulletproof that Soviet cosmonauts wore them straight into orbit.

Soldiers, station masters, and spies all trusted ONE Swiss watch brand in the 1920s... 🤫

While Lawrence of Arabia was wearing a West End in the desert, India’s railway station masters were using them to run the world’s most complex train networks. The became the official timekeeper of India’s railway companies 100 years ago because it was practically indestructible.

Featured watch is a Matchless pocket watch with an almost pristine porcelain dial. Time reserve of up to 26 hours

1, 2 or 3 I need your help. Which of these historic vanity pieces stays in my collection and which go to the shop? 🪞✨

They say you should never fall in love with your inventory, but today, I failed. I sourced these 3 incredibly rare eras of vanity history for the Sita Antiques collection and I genuinely cannot decide which one to keep for my personal museum & which ones to pass on to a new custodian.

1️⃣ An original antique Made in France Paris powder box. Founded in 1775, Houbigant served as the official perfumer to European royalty, from Marie Antoinette to Queen Victoria. This exact powder box design is preserved in the Musée de Paris (museum of Paris).

2️⃣ A Made in Japan dual-sided compact. The cover features a brilliant trompe l’oeil design, a vintage vinyl overlay perfectly mimicking meticulously hand-stitched petit point embroidery.

3️⃣ A heavy, luxurious x bronzer compact. Before launching his standalone brand, Tom Ford’s mid-2000s collaboration with Estée Lauder completely shook up the beauty industry. This specific collaboration is a major piece of fashion history, serving as the launchpad era before established his own standalone beauty empire.
