If you’re expecting a baby or recently gave birth, TRICARE may cover a breast pump and essential breastfeeding supplies as part of your maternity benefits.

TRICARE covers one manual or standard electric breast pump per birth event for eligible beneficiaries.

You may also be eligible for breastfeeding supplies, including:
✔️ Up to 100 breast milk storage bags every 30 days
✔️ Replacement tubing and adapters
✔️ Breast shields and splash protectors
✔️ Bottles and bottle caps
✔️ Other covered replacement supplies

🤱 Standard or wearable? This is one of the biggest questions we get from moms trying to choose a breast pump.

Here are some general guidelines to help you decide whether a standard or wearable pump may be the best fit for you:
If this is going to be your only or primary pump, a standard pump with traditional tubing and external flanges may be the better choice. Standard pumps are designed to provide consistent stimulation and effective milk removal, which can be especially important if you need to establish, maintain, or increase your milk supply.
Think of your standard pump as a reliable safety net — something you can depend on if your pumping needs change. Not all wearable pumps are designed to support the same pumping needs as a traditional pump.

If you already have a standard pump — or plan to purchase one separately — then a wearable pump might be a great option to use with your prescription! Wearable pumps are popular because they’re convenient, portable, and easy to incorporate into a busy routine. They can be especially helpful for pumping on the go or while traveling.

These are general guidelines, and every mom’s situation is different. Some wearable pumps offer strong suction and performance that may make them suitable as a primary pump for certain moms.
