What I’ve been up to for the past few weeks ✨
I got to tick off a bit of a bucket list item and head to for experimental glaze workshop. All the stars kind of aligned and it also happened to coincide with my 30th birthday, so it felt like the perfect excuse to head off to the Tuscan countryside for two weeks of playing with clay and glaze.
It was such an amazing experience and I’m coming home with so much more knowledge about glaze and a real excitement to keep experimenting. Playing with clay all day was literally a dream come true 🫶.
We mainly worked with “clay foam” and a very fun, gloopy/drippy glaze, and used nerikomi techniques for both. I went in with no real expectations other than wanting to learn some new techniques and more about glaze, so there was definitely a lot of failure along the way 😅 but I did get to bring some fun pots home with me.
The school was incredible and I’ll really miss the beautiful countryside, not to mention the 10:30 and 4:30 coffee and biscuit breaks and the 3-course homemade lunches!! It was also lovely to meet so many wonderful ceramic artists from all over the world and see everyone’s work and experiments.
I’ve been saving up every bit of income from Studio Beag for the past year to make this possible, so I’m very grateful for all of your support, it literally would not have happened without it.
I’m hoping I get to share some cool pots with you in the near future! I’ve got lots of video to share too so I’ll be posting that here over the next few weeks.
