There is an age for every gesture: the steady hand that guides, the curious hand that learns.

In the atelier, mastery knows no generation. It is told through the eyes, taught through the fingers, understood through patience. Those who arrive from afar discover that leather is never in a hurry — and that the time spent learning its language is already part of the journey.

This is the meaning of a craft so ancient: not to guard it, but to share it. Grandparents, parents, children — before the same workbench, the same discovery.

From small gestures, the things that last are born.

One page at a time, one stitch after another: the leather lets itself be persuaded with patience, because what is made to endure is never in a hurry.

An album taking shape under skilled hands, where every gesture is already known and yet never taken for granted.

We return to the world of braiding — because there is still something worth saying:
not all braiding is braiding.

Some leather is simply pressed — a pattern stamped on the surface to suggest what skilled hands never made.

At Michelangelo, we've always known the difference. You can feel it. You can see it.
This is what we don't use — and why it matters.

A day in the atelier.

Children from worked directly with leather, starting from simple forms. A keychain, color applied by hand, attention to surface.

Then composition. Small leather offcuts, reused to build a bag. Different textures, irregular shapes, each piece placed with intention.

An introduction to material, to process, to measure.

What gratifies Raffaele most
is the desire to own one of his pieces.

He makes very few objects each year.
Because time is required.

But when a piece leaves the atelier,
signed by his hand,
it carries more than function.

It carries an experience.

Beyond being one of Italy’s masters of bookbinding,
Raffaele is one of the few artisans
still able to work with Cuoietto Fiorentino.

An ancient technique
rooted in Florentine leather tradition.

Structure built from leather crust.

Cut by hand.
Shaped.
Dried.
Covered.
