We are so happy to finally unveil the cover of the next book of the Thoughts One Can't Do Without Series: Under Conditions Not of Our Choosing by Andrew Ross!

Andrew Ross reflects on his experience of combining activism with writing to offer guidance on how we can meet our political obligations when presented with events of historical significance. Discussing what solidarity, inspiration, opportunism, and consensus might mean for us today, Ross looks at the events of the past few years with a qualified optimism informed by a "rich archive of venerated icons, actions, and movements".
Andrew Ross is a social activist and Professor of Social and Cultural Analysis at NYU. A contributor to the Guardian, the New York Times, The Nation, Artforum, and Al Jazeera, he is the author or editor of more than twenty books, including Creditocracy and the Case for Debt Refusal, Bird on Fire, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Fast Boat to China, No-Collar, and The Celebration Chronicles. His latest book, Stone Men: The Palestinians Who Built Israel, was the winner of a Palestine Book Award.

Out on 11th November and available to preorder.

We are also very excited to announce that Juxta Press will be participating in the upcoming online edition of the Palestine Writes Literature Festival (December 2nd - 6th). More details soon!

Jennifer Edgecombe wrote a poem about Wynter’s painting “Landscape, Zennor” in her debut poetry pamphlet (published by earlier this year). Here, she writes about how she encountered Wynter’s work and why it spoke to her.

“You’ll see,” she tells me. And I see. The public only has eyes for her.

An extract from Dance of the Oryx by Ubah Cristina Ali Farah, translated by Hope Campbell Gustafson is now up on Position(s). Originally published by Juxta Press on Italian, La Danza dell’orice was inspired by Wangechi Mutu’s ‘Homeward Bound’. Here it is paired with another artist whose work informed the piece, Faith47. La Danza dell’orice is the third book in the Words for Portraits series.

Madonna Mia Proteggimi by Faith47 reflects upon the dangerous passage taken by stowaways in their journey over the oceans to idealised promised lands. The mural is textured with scrawlings referenced from writings by stowaways found under bridges in port towns.

Today is the day! The first book of our brand new Thoughts One Can’t Do Without series, Samuel Wells’ With is finally out!
Drawing on secular and theological thinkers, from Iris Murdoch to Augustine of Hippo, he proposes a vision for being with one another that contrasts with working for, working with or being for each other.

This series of essays aims to look at the thoughts that don’t just pass by, but anchor a life, offering perspectives from different thinkers and writers.
You can read more about With and the Thoughts series on our website - link in bio.

Il grande giorno è finalmente arrivato! Il primo libro della nostra nuova collana Thoughts One Can't Do Without, With di Samule Wells, è finalmente uscito!
