Dear Friends,

It is with great pleasure that we draw your attention to the recent interview with Giorgio Baratti featured in the latest issue of L’Informatore

In conversation with journalist Laura Marchesini, Baratti reflects on the Old Masters market, the changes it has undergone over the past decades, and the possible scenarios that lie ahead

“For me, the key word is immortality, not in the sense of fame. Immortality lies in what we do for others, in our ideas, in our hearts, and in our souls. Loving what we do is a duty we owe to ourselves. Expanding the range of our thinking is what enables us to enrich the meaning of our lives and, if possible, the lives of those around us.”
(An excerpt from Laura Marchesini’s interview with Giorgio Baratti)

Last days to visit the exhibition “Dall’idea all’opera”, an event hosted at the Museum of the Cathedral of Piacenza, Museo Kronos.

For the occasion, visitors will have the opportunity to admire the altarpiece The Martyrdom of Saint Agnes by the Genoese painter Giovanni Evangelista Draghi, together with its two preparatory sketches.

One of the sketches is now part of the Giorgio Baratti Collection and has been publicly displayed for the first time alongside the sketch preserved in a private collection in Piacenza.

On the occasion of the exhibition “Beyond the Clouds”, organized at the XNL space of the Fondazione di Piacenza Vigevano and curated by Chiara Gatti, Paola Pedrazzini, and Gianmarco Romiti, the Giorgio Baratti Collection is participating with the important loan of a painting by Marco Ricci

The magnificent Landscape with Waterfall, an oil on canvas measuring 160 × 292 cm, painted by Marco Ricci and previously published by Egidio Martini among the collection of Palazzo Grassi in Venice, represents an absolute masterpiece of 18th-century landscape painting

The exhibition explores the theme of clouds in their visual and symbolic dimensions, spanning art, literature, cinema, and poetry

The exhibition path is entrusted to the vision of eighteen contemporary artists — Olivo Barbieri, Leandro Erlich, Laura Grisi, Jeppe Hein, Dominic Kiessling, Laetitia Ky, Piero Manzoni, David Medalla, Filippo Minelli, Marie-Luce Nadal, Mauro Pace, Gabriele Picco, Marco Ricci, Martin Romeo, Denis Santachiara, Mario Schifano, Fausta Squatriti, Alfred Stieglitz, and Storyville — placed in an ideal dialogue with key figures from both the ancient and modern worlds, regarded as iconographic references within a timeless visual tradition

On the occasion of Fuorisalone Milano 2026, the Giorgio Baratti Antiquario gallery will host a small exhibition dedicated to the still lifes of the French master Meiffren Comte (Marseille, 1630 - Marseille, 1705).

From April 20 to 24, 2026, open continuously from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., we look forward to welcoming you to the dossier exhibition 'A Baroque dream. Still lifes by Meiffren Comte'.

A painter active at the court of Versailles, Meiffren Comte’s art reflects the splendour and attention to detail typical of French Baroque art, where each painting is a refined masterpiece capable of stimulating the senses and reviving the dream of the triumph of art under the reign of Louis XIV.

During these days, we celebrate the Easter holidays, and the Giorgio Baratti Gallery would like to wish you and your families moments of joy and happiness!

To visually accompany this period, we present the image of this wonderful late 15th-century panel painting, attributed by scholars to a Florentine master close to the Master of the Fiesole Epiphany.

The episode depicted faithfully follows the account given in the Gospel according to Matthew, in which the Resurrection of Christ is described in these terms:

“For an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, came and rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. Out of fear of him, the guards trembled and became like dead men”.

We would like to remind you that the gallery will also be closed on Monday, April 6; it will reopen on Tuesday, April 7 with the usual hours of 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
