The final version of my interchangeable Tone Bar system is ready, but for now I can only show you a few prototypes from its development. After testing many materials, I chose carbon fiber reinforced PA12 for the final parts. The locking system still works perfectly after 5,000 insertion and removal cycles. Three pogo pins connect the output jack and piezo inside the Tone Bar to the electronic controls mounted on the pickguard. The custom carbon components are precision calibrated, allowing the Tone Bar to slide smoothly into the guitar body.

A small demo of the very first Piuma Mission to the Moon, playing my original piece The Dark Side of the Spoon.
I went to Val Saisera, in the mountains of my region in Italy, to choose new resonance spruce for future instruments, and I couldn’t leave Piuma at home.
This is where the wood behind this project comes from, and I wanted to dedicate this little piece to the forest where the story of this instrument began.
There was no better way to do it than to sit down, listen to nature, and play.

A few weeks ago, I had the chance to talk about spruce and my work at NanoValbruna. While I was there, I also selected and bought some beautiful local wood to build new super lightweight guitars.
I love my mountains, and I love being able to build my guitars using materials that come directly from my own region.
What would you like to see in my next super lightweight guitars?

Working on new parts to upgrade the Piuma model.
I haven’t been posting much lately because my energy has been low, but I’m slowly finding my way back.
There’s still a lot happening in the workshop and I’m excited to share more soon!

AIR “Der Kuss”
A guitar I started back in 2019, inspired by Klimt’s The Kiss.
In 2023, I decided to finally complete it thanks to Remo, a customer who became a dear friend, and who bought it without even knowing what it would look like once finished.
It has now been played every day for almost three years, and I honestly think it is one of the best electric guitars I have ever made.
I don’t usually love building instruments like this, I’m a minimalist 😅
But it was really rewarding to figure out how to make some of the details work.
For example, the volume k**b was made using heat shrink tubing and a lot, a lot of patience.
