A NEW CHAPTER FOR THE PRIMITIVE HARE:
I’ve been silent because I was creating a new life. After 15 years of work, I feel it is time to share an update about the future direction of The Primitive Hare. Please read carefully and share with the Shop owners you know.
First of all, I want to reassure everyone that I will absolutely continue to work, design, and create. What is changing is simply the structure behind my work.
At this moment in my life, my family requires more of my time and presence. At the same time, I also feel the need to dedicate more time to myself and to the things I love most. Drawing and creating have always been at the heart of my work, and I want to continue doing so in a way that feels more aligned with my personal artistic vision.
For this reason, I have decided to adjust the way I work so that I can continue creating in a way that is more sustainable and true to the artistic path that inspires me.
The Primitive Hare will continue to release new designs regularly. The upcoming Summer Collection will be released in about two months, and I will continue to attend international markets, including the Nashville Needlework Market, the August Needlework Marketplace, and The Big Stitch in England, as well as teaching classes and hosting retreats around the world.
Very soon I will also be announcing a wonderful Halloween Retreat for 2027, which I am currently organizing together with a truly fantastic needlework shop. I cannot wait to share more details with you soon.
To make my designs more easily available worldwide, printed versions of my patterns will now be distributed exclusively through Hoffman Distributing, who will handle distribution to shops that wish to carry them.
This means that shops should now order all printed patterns directly through Hoffman.
My patterns will always be stitched on fabrics that remain easily available. With the exception of my own Old Salem and Boleyn linen, I will use fabrics produced by other artisans or manufacturers who ensure ongoing production, so that anyone who wishes to stitch my designs will always be able to obtain suitable materials.
While pattern distribution will now be handled by Hoffman, I have decided to change my approach to fabrics and handcrafted accessories.
Producing large quantities of handmade fabrics and objects for wholesale has gradually become too demanding for me. I am an artisan and an artist, and I want my creative work to remain something special rather than something driven by large-scale production schedules as happened in the past years.
For this reason, fabrics, thread keeps, pins, fobs, and other handcrafted accessories will no longer be sold wholesale to shops after April.
Shops that currently have open orders, or that are collecting orders from their customers, may submit their final orders for fabrics and accessories until the end of April. This will allow me to fulfill existing requests and ensure that no customers are left disappointed.
Please note that this transition period applies only to fabrics and handcrafted accessories.
Printed patterns must now be ordered directly through Hoffman Distributing.
After the end of April, fabrics and handcrafted items will be available exclusively through my Etsy shop for private customers.
However, I will continue to collaborate with shops in a different and more creative way.
If a shop would like to create an exclusive fabric collection, I will be happy to design and produce a special fabric exclusively for them. The same applies to thread keeps and other handcrafted accessories. If a shop wishes to commission an exclusive piece for their store, I will be delighted to work together to create something unique.
For my personal collections, fabrics and handcrafted items will follow a different creative approach. Instead of continuously available fabric lines, I will create limited capsule collections, announced in advance and available only for a short time.
Once these collections are sold out, they will not be reproduced.
These capsule collections will include hand-dyed fabrics, printed fabrics, and hand-painted fabrics. Especially the hand-painted pieces will be produced in very limited quantities, making them truly unique creations.
Importantly, these capsule collections will not be linked to any specific pattern, allowing stitchers complete freedom in choosing the fabrics they prefer for their projects.
Some of my historical fabrics will remain continuously available in my Etsy shop, particularly Old Salem and Boleyn linen, which I personally love to stitch on and which have become part of the identity of The Primitive Hare.
This new structure will also finally give me the opportunity to create small handcrafted pieces that I have long wished to produce but never had the time to make.
After fifteen years of work, I remain deeply grateful for the trust and support I have received from customers and shops all over the world. The Primitive Hare exists thanks to the extraordinary community that has grown around it.
The Primitive Hare will continue to attend markets, teach classes, host retreats, and release new collections, just as it has always done.
What is changing is simply the structure behind the work.
Finally, as most customers prefer purchasing through Etsy, and maintaining a personal website has become a significant cost that no longer reflects how most people prefer to shop, I have decided to close my website and concentrate all online sales exclusively on Etsy.
ThePrimitiveHare.shop will close at the end of April.
If you have reward points to redeem, please do so before that date.
I will continue to work. I will continue to create.
But from today, I choose to do so on my own terms.
The Primitive Hare was never meant to chase quantity but it happened lol… but in reality it was meant to protect a vision, a quality, and a soul.
The work continues…
