The Endless Archive

From philosophers to artists, photographers, historians, librarians, and designers, virtually every discipline has engaged with the archive. The same definition of the archive has itself become an object of inquiry, opening up new ways of thinking and new forms of research. Questions of preservation (or non-preservation), display, classification, and organization have become sites of debate and the production of new knowledge. This index is intended to help you navigate the seemingly endless archive of books about archives (deliberate repetition).

Dai filosofi agli artisti, dai fotografi agli storici, dai bibliotecari ai designer, ogni disciplina e campo di studio si è confrontata con gli archivi. La stessa definizione di archivio diviene un oggetto di studio e apre ad altre indagini terocihe. Tematiche come la conservazione (o la non conservazione), l’esposizione, e l’organizzazione diventano punti di discussione e produzione di nuove forme di conoscenza. Questo index vi aiuterà a muovervi nell’infinito archivio di libri che trattano gli archivi (ripetizione voluta).

Across the different publishers we feature in our bookshop, the erotic takes on many different forms and meanings. Through photography, philosophy, poetry, and artistic experimentation, these publications explore the erotic beyond sexuality, revealing its social, political, and collective dimensions while embracing its seductive nature. Together, they offer new ways of thinking about the erotic today, highlighting the importance of bodies, encounters, and the relationships that grow from them.

Tra i diversi editori che ospitiamo, il tema dell’erotico emerge attraverso forme, linguaggi e significati diversi. Attraverso scatti fotografici, saggi filosofici, poesie e sperimentazioni artistiche, l’erotico mostra le sue innate dimensioni sociali, politiche e collettive, mantenendo spesso la sua componente seduttiva. Le pubblicazioni raccolte in questo index ampliano il modo di intendere l’erotico nella nostra contemporaneità, ribaltando la visione riduttiva che lo identifica esclusivamente con la sessualità. Ciò che emerge è un insieme di prospettive e ramificazioni che restituiscono importanza ai corpi e alle relazioni che nascono dai loro incontri.

The Typography Corner

Since its founding, .bruno has complemented the bookshop with a carefully curated selection of books, magazines, and editorial publications exploring the many facets of design and graphic culture. Among them, typography has always held a special place. This index brings together books that explore the design of typefaces, the stories behind the creation of fonts, their cultural and social impact, and the evolution of lettering and contemporary typography.

Fin dalla sua nascita, .bruno ha affiancato nel bookshop una serie di prodotti editoriali dedicati alle molteplici sfaccettature del design e della grafica. Tra questi, un posto di rilievo è occupato dalle pubblicazioni che pongono al loro centro la tipografia. Affect & Desire

The concepts of affect and desire constitute two speculative poles that, from Spinoza through Deleuze to the theoretical positions seeking to rethink the anthropocentric gaze, continue to traverse and renew contemporary artistic, musical, and theatrical practices. It is precisely their capacity to outline a semantic field open to further configurations that makes desire and affect an index in their own right where the selected publications illuminate the diverse arrangements and distinct practices that can be developed from these concepts.  I concetti di affetto e desiderio costituiscono due poli speculativi che, da Spinoza, passando per Deleuze fino alle posizioni teoriche che cercano di ripensare lo sguardo antropocentrico, continuano ad attraversare e rinnovare le pratiche artistiche, musicali e teatrali contemporanee. Proprio per la loro capacità di tracciare un’area semantica aperta a ulteriori configurazioni, desiderio e affetto formano un indice a sé stante, all’interno del quale le pubblicazioni scelte mostrano le diverse configurazioni e le differenti pratiche che è possibile sviluppare a partire da questi concetti.
