Let's cut straight to the chase! šŸ˜‚
* Missing 2-3 marks for an A?* Re-mark it—there’s a high chance you’ll get those marks and lock in that A* āļø.
* Got an A and have a solid foundation? Revise the tough topics, solve plenty of past papers with real dedication this time šŸ¤“, and sit for the November retake.
* Got a B because you slacked off? Restudy the subject from scratch, show some respect for your parents' money, and retake it in June.
* Got a C? You slacked off and think passing is an achievement. Retake and try to get a V
* Thinking of retaking a C to raise it to a B? Yes, go for it.
* Taking Cambridge Math again? Do yourself a favor and switch to Edexcel instead.

It's a global issue.

Yet, you can help your son / daughter today and I will tell you how.

Take the step you need to take and ask your child what are they struggling with at school.

Find out about the subject and set a couple of appointments a week to help them with it.

Learn about the topic (Find my free resource planner in a previous post)

Be patient and explain as if you are learning.

Monitor the progress of your child every month.

Some at college or university are testing no better than ten-year-olds

Are you really listening to your child ?

Every year thousands of students go to school with a heavy bag of adverse feelings.

One of the worst feelings a student can have is lack of confidence. They sit during their Maths class feeling horrible as they can't understand the topic due to serious knowledge gaps that was built over the years.

They won't tell you they feel that way, but you will feel it when you ask questions towards the end of a busy school day. If you pay enough attention you will hear their screams for help.

It might come as a subtle sentence like

"Oh we had Maths today, I hate Maths"
"I will never be good at this"
"This topic makes no sense!"

It might come as a mid year report saying that they are struggling with the subjecy.

It might show in their behaviour in classroom.

These calls for help come in all shapes and forms.
Your duty is to listen and act on it, before it's too late.

Can you solve this ?

Unpopular opinion : Parents saying "I was never good at Maths" are harming their kids education.

Is your child getting their chance to ask questions ?

Schools in Jersey and UK in general have an average of 25-30 puipls per class.

Each lesson is between 45 and 60 minutes long. Let's do the Maths

* 5 minutes to check attendance (yes, every lesson)
* 5 minutes to make sure everyone got their books out.
* 15 minutes to explain the topic
* 5 minutes to write the questions on the board.
* 15 minutes to make sure every student tried to answer the questions.
* 10 minutes to check the answers and go through the solutions.

Now, how many minutes are left for the teacher to answer your child's question or correct any misconceptions they have ?
