Our newest addition to our Ramadan reading basket is a sweet, short story.

It follows a wooden peg that really wants to be useful during Ramadan. As the peg tries doing different things, it finally finds the perfect way thanks to a little bit of creativity.

A story that that highlights determination, it opened up a beautiful conversation about finding ways to be helpful and to contribute positively using the skills that you have.

It also goes beyond Ramadan as we can always find ways to add value. How do you encourage your little ones when they want to just give up?

Yes yes yes!
Ramadan is just around the corner and the Mighty Muslim Heroes series is exactly what the world needs.

Written by , the series highlights a diverse range of Muslims and their contributions to different fields. I love that she included biographies of contemporary Muslims and so many female Muslims as well.

Most importantly, no matter what your age or religion is, you will learn so much from this book and end up with a new role model or two!

It’s very important to expose our children to contributions made by Muslims, as most of the scientists, explorers, etc that we are exposed have had their names latinized and westernized in order to downplay their Muslim identity. The selection of these heroes will give any child the motivation to dream big and to contribute positively towards their community.

The perfect addition to your Islamic book collection (and the best Eid gift!), I personally learned so much from these biographies and I can’t wait till Talal is old enough to enjoy them as well!

The little things are actually the big things, don’t you agree?

A reminder to stop, pause, and notice the little things:

- the sound of their laughter
- the excitement they see the world with
- the adorable way they say certain words
- how proud they are when they try something new
- how much they love you
- what they look like when they are sleeping

Because time passes by way too quickly…

It’s World Wildlife Day today and what better way to jump back into recommending the best books than by celebrating this gem.

Hiba Noor Khan beautifully highlights the the work of 18 incredible young activists from around the world. These young activists are making a difference by taking action against climate change, thus helping the environment and wildlife across the globe.

I love how Hiba also celebrates the different cultures and traditions all while focusing on how the reader can also make a difference.

An inspiring read that’s jam packed with role models… a must have in every library that will empower readers of all ages.

Meet the Quest Kids as they embark on their first adventure!

I received this advanced copy from a few months ago and loved it! (AD - PR Product)

Published a few days ago, it’s a fantastic read for all ages, but especially for reluctant readers. This laugh-out-loud adventure, the first in the series, is filled with magic, mystery, and captivating illustrations.

Packed with dragons and other mystical creatures, I love how it celebrates the underdog and breaks away from the stereotypical hero and fairytale cliches.

Why do we avoid using saying “I’m proud of you” with Talal? It’s a very loaded term. In reality, his accomplishments are simply not about us. It’s about his own effort.

We want my son to be proud of his own achievements and to not rely on other people’s opinion of him.

We want him to not look for validation from anyone so that he can develop a strong sense of self-worth that’s intrinsic and healthy.

Here are some other phrases you can use also follow up with after asking “are you proud of yourself?”:

- You should be so proud of yourself. It was amazing how (fill in the blank)
- I’m so happy for you
- You look really proud of your effort
- I’m so lucky to be your Mom/Dad
- You are awesome

Will you rethink using this phrase and use this flip of words to help develop your child’s confidence and personal pride?

I’ve been stuck in a rut over the past couple of months and haven’t been in the mood to post on IG.

I realized that I was disappointed with what I’m seeing on social media. I felt that the accounts I used to enjoy lost their credibility and authenticity. I was frustrated with the lack of reach and visibility that small account such as mine face (unless you create a reaaaallly good reel or pay for an ad which I don’t enjoy doing either).

I’m grateful for everyone who reached out and especially to my IG friends who have felt (and are still feeling) these same sentiments and offered words of encouragement. It was nice to see that many people enjoy and find value in this space!

Reading this little gem from really helped. I love it when a picture book not only relates to young kids, but also resonates with adults. Taking advice from Bounce Back from Disappointment helped me gain control of my frustration.

Filled with practical strategies, this series helps children cope with big emotions and tricky situations. A must have for anyone trying to help develop a child’s growth mindset, well-being, and emotional intelligence.

PSA: It’s normal and totally healthy to want to spend time away from our kids for a little self-care. It doesn’t mean we don’t love them. On the contrary, we need to recharge so that we can parent mindfully.

Why? Because it combines two of his favorite things: dinosaurs and cars.

It’s funny picture book expressive and bold illustrations which makes it on of my current favorites as well!

It’s never too early to teach kids about money and finance!

I just started reading this series with Talal, and it’s fantastic. It explains the concepts of earning, spending, saving, and giving in a simple and relatable way.

The illustrations are sooo cute and help deliver the important lifelong lessons that some adults are still lacking 😬🤣
