京都で五代続く京和傘の老舗です。茶道家元御用達の本式野点傘をはじめ、番傘、蛇の目傘などの各種和傘の製作、修理、を行なっている京都で唯一の和傘製造元です。 「伝統は革新の連続」を企業理念とし、和風照明「古都里-KOTORI-」を始め、MOTO、ryoten、傘庵などの様々なデザインプロダクトも開発しております。

Hiyoshiya’s traditional area of expertise the production of umbrellas is no longer in high demand due to the low cost and modern style of western umbrellas. For example, we continue to maintain and repair old umbrellas purchased long ago by our clients, and we remain active as a producer of traditional umbrellas for stage and film productions and traditional festivals and events. We believe that tradition is a product of successive and endless innovation. Today we are actively designing and producing new, modern life-style products that are made with the materials and techniques our master craftsmen know best.

お客様が長年大切にお使いになってきた、
野点傘の修復。

「糸飾り」の工程が、無事に完成いたしました。

希少な晴れ間には天日干しを行っていたため、
完成まで約1週間ほどお時間をいただきました。

今回の3.5尺の野点傘には、
70本の親骨が使われています。

骨と骨の間を交差するように、
糸を平らにし、掛け、
6段にわたって糸飾りを施すため、
中々根気が必要な作業です。

「くらげと傘と風鈴と」が、
今年も京都水族館様にて開催されています🪼

日吉屋は、京都水族館で飼育されているクラゲのうち
18種を水墨画で表現し、
和傘を制作させていただいております。

京和傘の「傘」がまるで
上から見たくらげの「傘」のよう。
ふわふわ漂うクラゲの姿に
癒を感じていただけますと幸いです。

毎年恒例のTAKU GLASS様による
「クラゲ風鈴」に加え、
今年は京都市立芸術大学 染織専攻の学生による
「ゆれる海の染色のれん」も登場しています。

和傘、風鈴、染色のれんをお愉しみくださいませ。

The limited-time event “Jellyfish, Wagasa & Wind Chimes”, celebrating the beauty and diversity of jellyfish, is being held once again this year at Kyoto Aquarium 🪼

Hiyoshiya had the honor of creating traditional Kyoto wagasa umbrellas featuring 18 species of jellyfish that are cared for at Kyoto Aquarium, each depicted in traditional Japanese ink painting.

The round canopy of a Kyoto wagasa resembles the umbrella-shaped bodies of jellyfish when viewed from above. We hope the gentle, floating forms of the jellyfish bring you a sense of calm and wonder.

In addition to the annual “Jellyfish Wind Chimes” by TAKU GLASS, this year’s event also features “Swaying Sea — Dyed Noren Curtains,” created by students majoring in Textile Design at Kyoto City University of Arts.

Enjoy the enchanting combination of wagasa umbrellas, wind chimes, and dyed noren curtains, evoking the gentle movement of the sea.

Hiyoshiya is located in Kyoto’s Nishijin area.

Just nearby, Ogawa-dori is a historic street
where Sen no Rikyū once had his residence,
and where the culture of tea ceremony flourished.

Even today, the area is home to confectionery shops
and stores specializing in tea utensils,
offering a quiet and charming side of Kyoto
that remains relatively undiscovered.

When visiting Kyoto,
we hope you will take the time to explore Nishijin as well.
