🌸 The Story of Tsumami-zaiku

Tsumami-zaiku began as a pastime among court ladies and the wives of samurai families in the 17th and 18th centuries.

They transformed beautiful leftover silk from their kimonos into delicate fabric flowers.

Now it’s your turn to experience this traditional Japanese craft in Kyoto!

Spotted in Kyoto: the coolest guest wearing a Kimono like a total pro! 🍵✨

They were attending a tea ceremony next door and stopped by our shop right after because they had been eyeing us from outside. And honestly, we are so glad they did! 🤍

Their Kimono style was effortlessly chic and tailored to perfection. You could really tell how much they love Japanese culture! 👘

When it was time for photos, they dropped into a sharp, flawless Samurai stance—and we were completely blown away! ⚔️🔥

We welcomed the most stylish newlyweds from Italy today! 🇮🇹❤️ They are spending a whole month exploring Japan, and we are so honored they chose Kyoto Maruhisa to kick off their dream honeymoon. 🗺️✨

Something truly heartwarming happened at our shop. ✨

A lovely couple from the Philippines visited us and found the perfect vintage Haori coat. They left with big smiles, ready to continue their Kyoto adventure. 🌸

But just a few short tens of minutes later… the door opened again, and there they were! 😍

They told us that while walking through the streets of Kyoto, they couldn't stop thinking about their sister back home. They thought, "We just have to share this beautiful piece of Japanese culture with her!" So, they turned right around to find her a special gift. 🎁

With their sister in mind, they carefully chose a second vintage Haori to take across the ocean. ✈️

A Heartwarming Gift from Dad! Mother-Daughter Trip from the Netherlands 🇳🇱✈️🌸

Today, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming a lovely mother and daughter visiting us from the Netherlands! 👩‍👧✨

This shopping trip was extra special because her dad had given her some pocket money to treat herself to something wonderful in Japan! 🪙💖

The daughter—who told us she absolutely loves Takarazuka R***e, anime, and cats (she even has a cute kitten back home! 🐈🐾)—chose a stunning navy yukata adorned with beautiful lily flowers. She was doing her absolute best to speak to us in Japanese, and she was as sweet and lovely as a living doll! The elegant lily pattern suited her perfectly. 😍

After pairing it with the perfect obi, she wore her new look right out of the shop and headed straight out into the streets of Kyoto with a huge smile! ⛩️💨 We just know her dad is going to be so proud and happy to see her looking so beautiful. 🥰
