Coming in August – Bug Army Warlord

And finally, one of the models I was particularly looking forward to finishing: the Bug Army Warlord.

The Warlord rides one of the faction’s huge armored creatures and is accompanied by another warrior, creating a much larger centerpiece model for the army. I wanted something that immediately looked like a command unit while remaining unmistakably part of the strange military culture developed throughout the Bug Army range.

After almost a year of work, this faction is finally approaching completion.

Coming in August – Bug Army Rider Captain

The Rider Captain is another of this month’s Bug Army releases.

The squad combines mounted and dismounted warriors, including riders using the large creatures developed for the faction. I wanted these models to reinforce the strange mix of mutated wildlife, military equipment and improvised technology that has gradually become the identity of the Bug Army.

After nearly a year working on this faction, it feels great to see all these different ideas finally coming together into a complete army.

New Pirates have joined the Proxywars store!

I’ve just added a new range of pirate miniatures to the website, including crews, musketeers, spearmen, looters, captains, characters and even a cannon crew!

These miniatures were created by Medbury Miniature and are now available as physical miniatures on the Proxywars store.

I’m also going to spend some time adding more of the miniatures that are still missing from the website, especially some of our historical ranges. So expect quite a few additions soon!

Coming in August – Bug Army Gakeas

This month I’m returning to the Bug Army to finish some of the last squads still missing from the faction, starting with the Gakeas.

These heavily armored creatures are quite different from the humanoid troops I’ve been sculpting recently, and working on them again reminded me how much the Bug Army has evolved since I started the project almost a year ago.

I’m getting very close to having the faction where I originally wanted it to be!

Ta-Khefet – Wepwawet

The third Greanan squad released last month was the Ta-Khefet Wepwawet.

Their enormous weapons make them one of the most visually distinctive Ta-Khefet units I’ve worked on so far. I really enjoy pushing this contrast between the faction’s ancient-inspired design language and absurdly powerful advanced weaponry.

The Greanan range is steadily getting bigger, and I’m looking forward to returning to it after finishing my current work on the Bug Army.

Ta-Khefet – Sekhmet with Heavy Auto Plasma R***e

Another squad released last month: the Ta-Khefet Sekhmet equipped with Heavy Auto Plasma R***es.

These guys bring some serious firepower to the Ta-Khefet army, with oversized plasma weapons that contrast nicely with their more ancient Greanan armor and equipment. That mix of old cultural influences and advanced technology is exactly the visual identity I want to keep developing for this faction.

Netjeret Rebels – Sebakhy with Kopesh

One of last month’s new releases for the Greanan armies: a new Sebakhy squad armed with Kopesh for the Netjeret Rebels.

I’m really happy with how this unit turned out, especially the combination of shields, light equipment and the more ancient-inspired weapons. They help expand the Netjeret infantry range while giving the army another distinctive close-combat squad.

This month I’m temporarily moving away from the Greanans to finish the last parts of the Bug Army, but there is still a lot more planned for the Netjeret Rebels!

Damocles Wars website update!

I’ve finally updated the Damocles Wars section of the Proxywars website with new lore, rules clarifications, graphical fixes, and one feature I’ve wanted to add for a long time:

You can now export your army list as a PDF in one click!

The PDF contains all your army profiles, followed by separate pages with the special rules actually used by your army. You can build everything online, download the finished document, and play without having to keep checking your phone during the battle.

The feature is still being improved, but it already makes preparing and playing games much easier — and my kids definitely prefer using the printed version!
