The Tolman Collection is participating in Tokyo Gendai, one of Japan’s leading international art fairs.

Our presentation brings together two distinctive figures in modern and contemporary Japanese art:
Toko Shinoda (1913–2021) and Seiko Kawachi (b. 1948).

We look forward to welcoming you to Booth M03.

Echoes of Quiet Skies and Water
works by Toshihisa Fudesaka

“Have you ever felt this way?”

A moment when you suddenly feel a sense of loneliness
A moment when someone comes to mind
A moment when something quietly stirs within you

Feelings that are difficult to put into words, yet somehow remain with us.

Raindrops spreading across the surface of water
Falling rain
Hearts, angel wings, and glass vessels

While Toshihisa Fudezuka’s works depict tangible objects and familiar motifs, they also seem to capture fragments of emotions and memories that unexpectedly surface in our minds.

Through his delicate printmaking technique, Fudezuka invites us to reflect on those fleeting feelings that connect us to our own experiences and memories.

ふと寂しくなった瞬間
誰かを思い出した瞬間
心が少し揺れた瞬間

言葉にはならないけれど、確かに心の中に浮かんだ感情のかけら

雨粒が水面に落ちて広がる波紋
空から降り注ぐ雨
ハートや天使の羽、ガラスの瓶

筆塚稔尚の作品には、一見異なるモチーフが描かれていますが、そのどれもが私たちの心にふっと現れる感情や記憶の断片のように感じられます

目に見えるものを描きながら、その奥にある目に見えない気持ちを掬い上げる――
