Whew.
No easy way to say this. But Checkpoint is on borrowed time. All excuses aside, we got hit hard in 2020.
We will be closing down our location as of August 31st, 2020.
Now, what does this mean: "Our location"?
We have spoken to Games-Workshop and due to Covid-19 stress world wide, we can still operate without a brick and mortar store. Which means I can still get new products ordered and delivered in about two weeks verses APO type shipping which usually takes a month or two. G-W Japan has been SUPER supportive and I'm glad to have them backing us in these hard times.
As for Magic: the Gathering, their phone lines have been down due to Covid-19 so I have had to send an e-mail. We are waiting that response. And with my distributor as well. Our aim is to still get new product and promotional items during release day. But realistically, we might only be able to order regular product after release. Will send news when I get it.
Getting English product on Okinawa is hard and we are still trying to make that happen for everyone in the future. We will be trying to set up a Square Webpage where you can purchase product online. If you are on island, I can hand deliver it to avoid shipping time and fees.
All this is speculative at the moment. But I plan it to be my side gig after August 31st.
With that said, I [Patrick Johnson] am seeking new employment. Any help would be WONDERFUL! Because as we know, shifts are being cut and hiring during a pandemic is (as far as I've seen) not possible.
