Come see us in Tokyo!

Starting today visitors to Tokyo have the rare chance to see the beautiful 'Kokeshi Dolls' of Naruko (Miyagi) up close at the 'Sakurai Kokeshi Doll Exhibition'!
With over 200 years of history, Kokeshi Dolls are a well-loved traditional handicraft passed down the generations. Typically the design of each doll can be traced back to one of the many hot spring towns in the Tohoku area. The Kokeshi Dolls of Naruko hot spring area are particularly well known with many tourists flocking to the town in late August to visit the unique Kokeshi festival!

【Introducing traditional kokeshi to EuropeーMilan Traditional Kokeshi Exhibition】

We are delighted to announce MUDEC - Museo delle Culture will hold "Traditional Kokeshi Exhibition" with us next year, May 2019!

Although donors have already provided support for this exhibition, we are still 1.4 million yen (12,000 USD) short, for administration and maintenance of the venue during the exhibition and transportation of kokeshis from Japan. So we kicked off our fundraising campaign in Japan. The campaign has been running for 2 months and there's only one week left. We are so close to reaching our goal!

To help the traditional craft of kokeshi to move a step closer to transform itself to be more sustainable industry, we would very much appreciate your support.
