The Cartier Tank Louis WGTA0010 was first introduced in 2017 to celebrate the 100th year of the iconic Tank line which originally made its debut in 1917. The WGTA0010 is, without question, my personal favorite timepiece in Cartier’s current regular production collection. Unlike many modern watches that have grown larger over the years, the WGTA0010 remains faithful to the original philosophy of the Tank: refined, discreet, and perfectly proportioned. Measuring 29.5mm × 22mm, its dimensions are close to the historically classic Tank Louis proportions of 30mm × 24mm which gives the watch an elegant presence on the wrist, making it an excellent choice not only for women but also for men who appreciate traditional Tank proportions. The SBGW259 was introduced in 2020 as part of Grand Seiko’s 60th anniversary celebrations, alongside the platinum SBGW257 and yellow-gold SBGW258. The three watches were created as contemporary interpretations of the original 1960 Grand Seiko First.

The SBGW259 faithfully captures the character of the original Grand Seiko while bringing it into the modern era with a larger 38mm case, a stunning blue dial, and Grand Seiko’s proprietary Brilliant Hard Titanium. The result is an exceptionally refined watch that combines one of the most important designs in Grand Seiko history with modern materials and mechanical performance.
