その「NINE STORIES」内で、読書に特化したプロジェクトとしてスタートしたのが「LOST GIRLS BOOKS（ロスト ガールズ ブックス）」です。

今回の POP-UP SHOP は、18世紀の作家・Voltaire（ヴォルテール）からインスピレーションを受けた言葉 “READ AND DANCE” をテーマに展開していきます。

“SUPER WHAT?”

元KMD、ロンドンからニューヨークに移住し90年代後半から伝説を築き、2020年に惜しまれながらこの世を去ったMF DOOMと、Wu-Tang ClanのInspectah DeckらによるブーンバップクルーCZARFACEのタッグユニットアルバム。

2021年リリースでMF DOOM死後に遺されたヴォーカル素材をもとにCZARFACEサイドが新たに宇宙を構築し直した作品で、彼の冷笑的不可解ラップと硬派なブーンバップ的ストレートさが合わさり、またそこにコミック的スキット、サウンドエフェクトを入れ、これらが混ざることでCZARFACEユニバースの最強ヴィランが再び登場することとなる。CZARFACEの遊び心とDOOMのキャラクター性の再定義及び拡張により、DOOMの未公開ショーケースでもあり、ブーンバップの再構築実験的でもある作品となっている。

This is a collaborative album by CZARFACE—the boom-bap crew featuring Wu-Tang Clan’s Inspectah Deck—and MF DOOM, the former KMD member who relocated from London to New York, built a legendary legacy starting in the late '90s, and deeply missed, passed away in 2020.

Released in 2021, the album features posthumous vocal tracks left behind by MF DOOM, around which CZARFACE reconstructed a brand-new sonic universe. DOOM’s cynical, cryptic flows seamlessly blend with their hard-hitting, straightforward boom-bap style. Interspersed with comic-book style skits and sound effects, this fusion marks the grand return of the ultimate villain to the CZARFACE universe. Packed with CZARFACE’s playful creativity while redefining and expanding DOOM’s iconic persona, the project serves as both an unreleased showcase for DOOM and an experimental reconstruction of boom-bap.

Raekwon、Method Man、GZAらWu-Tang Clanの盟友たちを始め、Nas、Styles P、M.O.P.、Redmanらレジェンド、Conway the Machineと豪華な客演陣を揃え、先行曲「Rap Kingpin」で旧作「Mighty Healthy」をサンプリングするなど原点回帰的なスタンスも窺わせながら、伝統と新たな手法を織り交ぜる、新旧スタイルミックスなトラックが並び、彼ならではのNYスタイルを魅せる。

A sequel to the 2000 classic Supreme Clientele, released by Staten Island legend and Wu-Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah, this project arrives as part of Mass Appeal’s “Legend Has It” campaign.

Featuring fellow Wu-Tang affiliates such as Raekwon, Method Man, and GZA, alongside legends including Nas, Styles P, M.O.P., Redman, and Conway the Machine, the album boasts an impressive lineup of guest appearances.

With the lead single “Rap Kingpin” sampling “Mighty Healthy” from the original Supreme Clientele, the project signals a return to its roots while blending tradition with new techniques. This 1969 studio album was released by The Upsetters, led by the legendary Lee "Scratch" Perry, under the heavy influence of Spaghetti Westerns. A cornerstone of Miami’s Cuban music scene, Ray Fernandez built his “court” for the creation of Afro-Cuban funk masterpieces. Featuring his wife and two sons, as well as saxophonist Rickey Washington—father of modern jazz giant Kamasi Washington—Ray And His Court released their self-titled album in 1973. This landmark record has now been reissued by Mr. Bongo, the prestigious independent label based in Brighton, UK, renowned for its reissues of classic and rare world music.

Side A opens with the enchanting “La Señorita Lola”, followed by “Lo Sabía”, “Venimos Acabando”, and “El Alacrán”. Side B features tracks like “Soul Freedom”, famously sampled by DJs including DJ Shadow. Combining salsa, soul, funk, calypso, and Afro-Cuban rhythms, this album distills the fiery spirit of Miami’s Cuban scene into one essential release.
