📺 Taro’s Origami Studio Asakusa was featured on Japanese TV! ✨

Earlier this year, SBC Shin-etsu Broadcasting visited our Asakusa Studio for their program “Sustainable Uppii.”

SBC announcer Keiko Nakazawa explored the studio, discovered origami works by our artists in Japan and the US, and took on two origami challenges herself: Mt. Fuji ⛰️ and an advanced origami rose! 🌹

The segment also introduced how “Origami” has spread around the world, from education to new forms of artistic expression.

We’ve shared more about the TV feature on our blog!

Installation is now underway at St. Andrew Methodist Church in Plano, Texas.

After months of design, folding, engineering, and preparation, our team is now turning the vision into reality — carefully positioning and suspending thousands of hand-folded doves and cardinals throughout the Sanctuary.

There is still a lot of work ahead, and this is not the finished installation yet. But everything is progressing well, and with each day, the flocks are beginning to take shape.

It has been especially exciting to watch the space transform — from an empty Sanctuary, to the rigging and net system, to hundreds of individual birds gradually taking flight above the congregation.

More to come as we continue the installation in Texas.

Still a work in progress. But SOAR is beginning to fly.

✨ SOAR is taking shape in Plano, Texas!🕊️

After months of preparation, our team is now on site at St. Andrew Methodist Church in Plano, Texas, bringing our latest large-scale origami installation, “SOAR,” to life.

Created in celebration of St. Andrew’s 40th anniversary, SOAR features more than 2,400 hand-folded origami birds installed across three different spaces within the church.

From designing the installation and folding thousands of birds in Brooklyn to transporting everything to Texas, this has been a major project for our team — and we’re excited to finally see it coming together on site.

The project was also recently featured in Plano Magazine, a local publication covering the Plano, Texas community. Thank you to Plano Magazine for sharing the story behind SOAR!

We’re not revealing the finished installation just yet, but we’ll be sharing more behind-the-scenes moments as the installation progresses.

Stay tuned for the final reveal! ✨

The installation, called SOAR, will feature doves and cardinals suspended throughout the church's three worship spaces through January 2027.

Happy Lunar New Year!! 🧧🐎
This year is the Year of the Horse.

The horse is a beloved motif in the world of origami - many artists have created their own original horse models, and even entire books have been dedicated to horse origami!😳
Of course it’s one of the favorite themes among Taro’s artists too.

Although Lunar New Year is not a public holiday in today’s Japan, it has traditionally been the most important holiday across many Asian cultures and is celebrated widely and joyfully.
In New York City, with its three major Chinatowns, it has became one of the biggest winter celebrations for both locals and visitors.

Wishing you a wonderful year of the horse!!🐎✨✨

Artwork by our founder, Taro Yaguchi, has been featured on the cover of Tricycle: The Buddhist Review — one of the world’s leading English-language Buddhist magazines — in its Spring 2026 issue!

The cover introduces Japanese origami culture within the context of contemporary Buddhist thought.
The issue also includes an interview with Taro, sharing his perspectives and creative journey.

We’re truly honored to see origami represented in this meaningful way☺️ 🕊️✨
