Todomatsu (椴松) is a species of fir native to Hokkaido, the Kamchatka Peninsula, and other regions of Northeast Asia. While most Todomatsu disposable chopsticks are made from Russian or Chinese wood and processed there, these chopsticks are made from locally sourced Todomatsu thinning wood from Hokkaido and are manufactured entirely in Hokkaido, making them a true quality product from Japan. The use of thinning wood also contributes to the sustainable management of Japan’s forests. By selectively removing trees, the remaining forest receives more light and space, allowing the trees to grow healthier and stronger. With its fine, uniform grain, elegant appearance, and straight fibers, Todomatsu is an excellent material for high-quality disposable chopsticks. The wood splits cleanly and evenly, providing a pleasant feel in the hand. It is no surprise that these chopsticks are particularly popular for special occasions and ceremonial bento meals, as well as in soba restaurants and traditional Japanese dining establishments, where quality and an authentic dining experience are highly valued.
