【うつわと伝統工芸のお店　晴居堂（せいきょどう）】
東京・かっぱ橋にある、作家もののうつわや職人による工芸品などを扱うお店です。 伝統工芸の取材をライフワークとするライターが全国各地を巡って出合った、作家もの陶磁器、ガラス細工など食器類、竹細工など暮らしの道具、手織物などおしゃれな服飾雑貨を販売しています。
場所は、東京都台東区松が谷、かっぱ橋本通り商店街の裏通り。
つくばエクスプレス「浅草」駅、東京メトロ銀座線「稲荷町」駅・「田原町」駅が最寄りで、かっぱ橋道具街の近くです。
浅草から歩いて来られるので浅草散策のついでに、ぜひ、当店にもお越しください。

Located in Kappabashi, Tokyo, our store handles items such as crafts and utsuwa tableware, all made by artisans. Our writers, dedicated to covering traditional crafts, travel all over Japan finding the items sold at our store, including artisanal ceramics, tableware such as sculpted glasses, lifestyle goods like bamboowork, and stylish clothing items such as hand-knitted fabrics. The nearest stations are Tsukuba Express Asakusa Station, Tokyo Metro Ginza Line Inaricho Station, and Tawaramachi Station. We are also near Kappabashi Utensils Street. 【水谷渉さんの工房を訪ねて｜佐賀県唐津市】

先週末、佐賀県唐津市にある陶芸家・水谷渉さんの工房におじゃましてきました。

今回選んできたのは、抹茶碗や湯呑み、コーヒーカップ、お皿など。
土の力強い表情と、釉薬が生み出す美しい色合い。ひとつひとつ異なる景色に、ついつい目移りしてしまいます。

今回選んできたうつわは、今週末に晴居堂へ到着する予定です。
なお、今週末はイベント出店のため、実店舗はお休みをいただきます。

水谷渉さんのうつわは、来週から店頭に並びます。

【Visiting Ceramic Artist Wataru Mizutani's Studio in Karatsu, Saga】

Last weekend, we visited the studio of ceramic artist Wataru Mizutani in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture.

We selected a variety of pieces, including matcha bowls, yunomi tea cups, coffee cups, and plates.

The earthy textures and beautiful colors created by the glazes make each piece truly one of a kind. There was so much to admire!

The pieces we selected are expected to arrive at Seikyodo this weekend.

Please note that our shop will be closed this weekend as we will be participating in an event.

Wataru Mizutani's ceramics will be available in our shop starting next week.

【新入荷｜大貫博之さんのうつわ】
New Arrivals | Ceramics by Hiroyuki Onuki
 
茨城県笠間市の山里に工房を構える陶芸家・大貫博之さんから、新しいうつわが届きました。
 
椿、桜、菖蒲、百合など、身近な草花をモチーフに、線象嵌と色絵で表現する大貫さん。
 
今回は、草花を大胆に描いた華やかな盃が入荷しました。
器いっぱいに広がる花や竹の景色は、一点一点眺めているだけでも楽しく、食卓のアクセントになってくれます。
 
そして、がらりと趣の異なる「モノトーンシリーズ」も。
 
白いマットな肌に、墨で描いたような黒。
シンプルでモダンな佇まいで、和の食卓にも洋のテーブルにもすっと馴染みます。
 
今回は、抹茶碗、片口抹茶碗、マグカップ、湯呑み、フリーカップなどが揃いました。
 
モノトーンシリーズは、大貫さんの作品を初めて手にする方にもおすすめしたい、比較的手に取りやすい価格帯です。
 
華やかな草花と、潔いモノトーン。
まったく違う表情を持つ大貫さんのうつわ、ぜひ店頭で見比べてみてください。

New ceramics by Hiroyuki Onuki have arrived at Seikyodo.
 
Onuki is a ceramic artist based in the countryside of Kasama, Ibaraki Prefecture. His work often features familiar flowers and plants such as camellias, cherry blossoms, irises and lilies, expressed through inlay techniques and colorful decoration.
 
This new arrival includes striking sake cups featuring bold floral and bamboo motifs. Each piece feels almost like a small painting in ceramic.
 
We also have new pieces from his completely different Monotone Series.
 
Matte white surfaces are contrasted with expressive black lines reminiscent of Japanese ink painting. Simple and modern, these pieces work beautifully with both Japanese and Western table settings.
 
The new selection includes matcha bowls, matcha bowls with spouts, mugs, yunomi tea cups and free cups.
 
The Monotone Series is also offered at an approachable price range, making it a great introduction to Onuki’s work.
 
Colorful botanicals or bold monochrome—
come and discover two very different sides of Hiroyuki Onuki’s ceramics at Seikyodo.

＼3つの商店街イベントをめぐって、オリジナル御朱印帳をつくろう！／
つくばエクスプレス沿線の3商店街で開催される「WAっしょい祭り」。
 
晴居堂は、3つの商店街をリレーして完成させる
「オリジナル御朱印帳づくり」のワークショップを担当します！
 
第一弾は、10月18日（日）青井兵和通り商店街で
「伊勢型紙 型染め体験」。
 
第二弾は、10月25日（日）南千住仲通り商店会で
「御朱印帳づくり体験」。
 
第三弾は、11月15日（日）浅草国際通り商店街で
「水引づくり体験」。
 
3つの体験をつなげると、伊勢型紙と水引で彩った自分だけの御朱印帳が完成します！
もちろん、1回だけの参加でも楽しめます。
 
そして、ワークショップはすべて参加無料！
 
まずは10月18日（日）の青井兵和通りからスタート。
 
いろいろなワークショップやステージ、縁日なども開催されます。

小鹿田焼、4つの食卓。
 
店頭の小鹿田焼を使って、4つのテーブルコーディネートをつくってみました。
 
同じ小鹿田焼でも、組み合わせる器や道具を変えると、食卓の表情もさまざまです。
 
① 洋食のテーブル
七寸皿をメインプレートに。肉料理やサラダ、パンに、ワインとグラッパを合わせて。
 
② うどん＆親子丼
大きな鉢にはうどん、小さな鉢には親子丼。お漬物と緑茶を添えて、気取らない日常のごはんに。
 
③ 和食のテーブル
金目鯛の煮付けを主役に、ごはん、味噌汁、お漬物。飛び鉋や刷毛目など、小鹿田焼らしい表情を楽しむ組み合わせです。
 
④ コーヒー＆スイーツ
プリンパフェにフルーツ、コーヒーを合わせて、ちょっと楽しいおやつの時間に。
 
敷いている布は、岩手の「かまばた織り（裂織）」です。
素朴な織りの表情が、小鹿田焼によく似合いました。
 
料理を盛り付けた写真は、実際のテーブルコーディネートをもとに、AIで料理を加えてみました。
生成の際に器の形や模様も少し加工されているため、実際のうつわの色・形・質感は、料理を盛り付けていない写真でご確認ください。
 
小鹿田焼は、もちろん日本料理だけのうつわではありません。
 
パスタやカレー、スープ、パン、デザートなど、ぜひ皆さんの国の料理や、いつもの食卓にも合わせて楽しんでみてください。

Four Ways to Enjoy Onta Ware
 
Onta ware isn’t only for Japanese food.
 
We created four table settings to show how these traditional Japanese ceramics can become part of everyday dining.
 
① Western-style Dinner
A large plate for a meat dish, with salad, bread, w**e and grappa.
 
② Udon & Oyakodon
A large bowl for udon noodles and a smaller bowl for oyakodon, served with pickles and green tea.
 
③ Japanese Meal
Simmered kinmedai (splendid alfonsino), rice, miso soup and pickles — a simple, everyday Japanese table.
 
④ Coffee & Sweets
A pudding parfait, fresh fruit and coffee for a relaxed afternoon treat.
 
The woven mats are Kamabata-ori from Iwate, a type of sakiori (traditional Japanese rag weaving).
 
The food shown in some of the photos was added using AI to help you imagine how the pieces might look in use.
Please note that AI has slightly altered some of the shapes and patterns. Please refer to the photos without food to see the actual pottery.
 
And of course, you don’t have to use Japanese pottery only for Japanese food.
 
Try pairing Onta ware with dishes from your own country and your everyday table — pasta, curry, soup, bread, desserts, and more.
 
Mix it, use it, and make it your own.

今回入荷したのは、香炉、湯呑み、急須、一輪挿し、箸置き。

土と炎がつくる、一点一点異なる備前焼の表情。
松岡さんらしい、すっきりとした佇まいと使いやすさを備えたうつわが揃いました。

まずは店頭先行でご紹介します。
オンラインショップへの掲載は後日を予定しています。

そして第二弾は10月初旬。
松岡さんを代表する「引き出し黒」のうつわが入荷予定です。

The first selection of Bizen ware by Seigo Matsuoka has arrived at Seikyodo.

Incense burners, teacups, teapots, and small flower vases are now available in store.

Online sales will follow at a later date.

The second collection, featuring Matsuoka’s distinctive “Hikidashi-guro” black Bizen ware, is scheduled to arrive in early October.

美濃焼の産地、岐阜県土岐市で作陶されている加藤淳さん。
 
ほんわかとした優しい絵付けと、やわらかな色使いが魅力のうつわです。
 
今回届いたのは、マグカップ、四つ足の湯呑み、輪花小鉢。
食卓にそっと馴染みながら、眺めるたびにちょっとうれしくなるようなうつわが揃いました。

【New Arrival: Atsushi Kato】
 
New pieces by ceramic artist Atsushi Kato have arrived at Seikyodo.
 
Based in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture—one of Japan’s major Mino ware pottery regions—Kato creates ceramics characterized by gentle hand-painted designs and soft, warm colors.
 
This new arrival includes mugs, four-footed yunomi tea cups, and small flower-shaped bowls.
 
They are now available in-store ahead of our online release.
 
We’ll be adding them to our online shop soon and will post an update when they’re available. As Kato’s pieces are very popular, some may sell out in-store before they make it online.

8月23日（日）、夏休み特別ワークショップ「伊勢型紙を使った手ぬぐい染め体験」を開催しました。

【Ise Katagami Tenugui Dyeing Workshop】
On August 23, we held a special summer workshop using Ise Katagami, traditional Japanese paper stencils.

Here are some moments from the workshop and the wonderful tenugui created by our participants!

By combining different stencils and colors, everyone created their own unique designs.

The workshop was a big hit, so we’re thinking about adding it to our regular craft experience lineup♪

This new arrival includes:

Each piece features the warm, distinctive character of Onta ware, including traditional techniques such as tobikanna and brushwork.

夏の風物詩・入谷朝顔市も、いよいよ今日まで。
朝顔市にちなんで、晴居堂にある「朝顔」の作品を2点ご紹介します。

🌸 ガリ版作品『夜の朝顔』／高部晴市
絵本作家・イラストレーターの高部晴市さんによるガリ版作品。
ガリ版刷りは、ロウ引きした原紙を鉄筆で削り、その孔からインクを押し出して刷る、どこか懐かしい印刷技法です。一枚一枚に手仕事ならではの温もりがあり、静かな夜に咲く朝顔がやさしく描かれています。

☕ カップ＆ソーサー「朝顔」／大貫博之
茨城県笠間市の陶芸家・大貫博之さんの作品。
線象嵌と色絵で描かれた朝顔は、「太陽の力を受け、運気を蓄えて咲く」といわれる縁起のよい花。コーヒーや紅茶の時間を華やかに彩り、飾っても美しいうつわです。

Iriya Morning Glory Festival ends today! 🌸

To celebrate one of Tokyo's most beloved summer traditions, we'd like to introduce two morning glory-inspired works available at Seikyodo.

🌙 "Morning Glory at Night" by Haruichi Takabe
An original artwork created using Gari-ban, a traditional Japanese stencil printing technique in which waxed paper is hand-engraved before ink is pressed through the carved lines. The result is a beautifully soft, nostalgic texture that perfectly captures the quiet beauty of blooming morning glories at night.

☕ Morning Glory Cup & Saucer by Hiroyuki Onuki
A ceramic cup and saucer by Hiroyuki Onuki of Kasama, Ibaraki.
