This International Women’s Day is a 8/8 kind of day. I am filled with awe and nostalgia at the same time. Indeed God has been good. That’s however a story for another day. Today, I toast to the numerous achievements that women have made globally and right here in our backyard as well as laud the men that enable and support them on this journey. We truly have come a mighty long way.
Such a long way that our ancestors would never have dreamt this dream…but they would celebrate us for the strides taken to get here. That said, let us not be dragged down into the drudgery of the day without truly thinking how we in our daily lives for the greater good.
I recently read and I was challenged, that we are more concerned with _making our parents proud than making our children proud_ There’s some truth to that. We are ancestors in the making. Yeah I said it 😂😂 *Investing in Women* today will continue to ensure that progress in all spheres of life is accelerated and cemented decades from now. We can be the ancestors that our children’s children are proud of. (Yeah I called you ancestor more than once 😂)
And while I have your attention, go on and look in the mirror of your life. Work from the inside out daily to progress. It’s the bits and bobs of daily life that we often ignore, that truly make an impact in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Be the first woman you invest in. Be the first one to include you. Inside you is a repertoire of abilities and instincts that if you lean in to today, you’ll reap a higher version of yourself.
Happy IWD 2023
