Bloodless battle in SINGAPORE

Abalone prices have dropped by 5 per cent to 30 per cent during this Chinese New Year period, said wholesalers.
They told The Sunday Times this was due to Singaporeans' low spending power during the coronavirus pandemic as well as an oversupply of stock in China.
For instance, the price of a 180g can of Yoshihama abalone from Japan fell from last year's price of $28 to $20 last week. And the price of a 180g of Crown Brand abalone from China dropped from last year's tag of $21 to $13 last week.

This is due to S'poreans' low spending power during the coronavirus pandemic as well as an oversupply of stock in China.. Read more at straitstimes.com.

I just got below letter regarding cancellation of Seafood expo in Asia supposed to be held in Singapore;;

Dear Seafood Community,

It is with great disappointment that we have to bring you the news that we will not be able to meet in person in 2020.

Due to ongoing health and safety issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become necessary to cancel the 2020 edition of Seafood Expo Asia that was to take place on 18-20 November 2020 in Singapore at the Singapore EXPO.

Despite some re-opening measures internationally and locally, there are still far too many uncertainties about the impact that COVID-19 will have on travel and mass gatherings this November. Accordingly, it is impossible to hold an event that would provide the experience our seafood community would find valuable.

Looking ahead, we are determined to provide a valuable and safe business platform for the industry. The Seafood Expo Asia team will continue to reach out to you regarding opportunities to move your business forward in the Asian market and reconnect with the seafood buying communities going forward, and for the 2021 edition.

We thank everyone in the industry, our vendors and partners for their continuing support while navigating these difficult times. We look forward to bringing the seafood community back together in Asia in 2021.

예상대로 호주 최대 전복수출기업의 매출이 크게 줄었고 갈곳을 잃은 전복 재고가 새로운 시장을 찾아 자국의 외식업계를 두들기고있고 그나마 남은 기존수출시장에서의 경쟁 역시 더욱 치열해졌습니다
