Footrest prototype number 2! Made with the same pine/walnut veneer combo as before, but now rectangular. I might decide to offer both options in the near future.

Triangle no. 2 with hand hammered German silver. My first attempt was a failure as I tried bending it at the wrong temperature (see last pic) and snap! German silver is definitely not as forgiving as bronze. 8" size.

Felt repair for a Freer 50/50 tam-tam mallet. Both of the original sides were worn through so I replaced it with a mix of some new German and technical felt. This one will be heading back to Indy. Bon voyage!

Tambourine foot rest prototype #1. Might try a slightly larger size next, but happy with the results. Wood top and short aluminum tubing to accommodate standard snare stands.

Felt like it was time to make a triangle. Hand hammered 4" baby bronze. Far from perfect, but experimenting with a new bending jig was a good learning experience. Triangle no. 1 ✔️

I want to give a huge thank you and wish a very happy retirement to Mr. Kim.

When I first started pursuing making tambourine jingles while living in Korea, Mr. Kim played a major role in helping bring those ideas to life. He generously shared his knowledge, helped with production, and also introduced me to many other skilled craftsmen throughout the Cheonggyecheon area of Seoul.

Thanks again for everything, Mr. Kim!

Always fun to take our metal castanets out into the wild for some Bacchanale. Ending up using the small model for the softer dynamic sections and the large model for the ending to help make things more exciting.

4 new castanets are all "cast" and polished. They'll be heading out the door soon for Portugal.

New Year, new ideas! Playing around with some new tambourine shell ideas to help speed up head changes. Natural skin on the composite shells took almost 24+ hours to dry. Trying out some various wood inlays to help speed up the bond and dry time.
