이하린 개인전 《Wash Me (and I shall be whiter than snow)》가 오늘 FINORK에서 시작되었습니다.

이번 전시에는 저마다의 이야기와 감정을 지닌 형상들이 함께 자리합니다. 서로의 부족한 부분을 채워주는 존재가 있는가 하면, 나란히 있어도 소통하지 못하는 인물들이 있습니다. 자신의 의지와 관계없이 무언가를 말해야 하는 상황, 선의라는 이름 아래 강요받는 모습, 기쁨인지 고통인지 쉽게 구분할 수 없는 표정도 작품 속에 담겨 있습니다.

작가는 이러한 이야기를 관람객이 각자의 시선으로 이야기를 발견할 수 있도록 여지를 남깁니다.

익숙한 형식에서 조금 벗어나 새로운 재료와 표현을 시도한 이번 전시에서, 작가가 만들어낸 형상들과 그 사이에 놓인 이야기를 각자의 시선으로 만나보세요.

Harin Lee’s solo exhibition, 《Wash Me (and I shall be whiter than snow)》, opens today at FINORK.

The exhibition brings together figures, each carrying its own emotions and stories. Some complement one another, making up for what the other lacks, while others remain unable to communicate despite standing side by side. The works also explore moments of being compelled to speak against one‘s will, pressures imposed in the name of good intentions, and expressions that seem to hover between joy and pain.

Rather than defining these narratives explicitly, Lee leaves room for viewers to discover their own stories and interpretations.

Moving beyond familiar forms, Lee explores new materials and modes of expression in this exhibition. We invite you to encounter these figures and the stories that unfold between them, through your own perspective.

《Wash Me》, 덮는 행위에서 발견한 씻음의 의미

“최근에는 익숙한 형식을 반복하기보다 아직 경험하지 못한 재료와 방법을 탐색하는 데 관심을 두고 있습니다. 아직 해보지 않은 것이 많다는 생각이 들었기 때문입니다. ”

이하린 작가는 어두운 흙 위에 흰 화장토를 입히는 과정에서 무언가를 씻고 다시 다른 상태로 만드는 모습을 떠올렸습니다. 이번 전시에서는 분청사기의 전통적인 표현을 그대로 재현하지 않고 조금 비껴나 색을 더하고, 제작 과정에서 생긴 얼룩과 불완전한 표면도 작업의 일부로 받아들였습니다.

《Wash Me (and I shall be whiter than snow)》라는 제목을 선택하게 된 생각과 그 안에 담긴 여러 의미를 이하린의 목소리로 전합니다.

“Recently, rather than repeating familiar forms, I have been interested in exploring materials and methods I have not yet tried. I felt there was still so much I had yet to try.”

For Harin Lee, applying white slip over dark clay brought to mind the act of washing something and transforming it into another state. In this exhibition, Lee departs slightly from traditional ‘buncheong’ expressions rather than reproducing them, adding color and embracing the marks and imperfect surfaces that emerge during the making process as part of the work.

Harin Lee shares, in his own words, the thoughts behind the title 《Wash Me (and I shall be whiter than snow)》 and the meanings it carries.

이하린 개인전 HARIN LEE SOLO EXHIBITION 《Wash Me (and I shall be whiter than snow)》

인물 형상의 도자 작업을 통해 인간과 감정, 관계에 대한 이야기를 이어온 이하린은 이번 전시에서 분청의 제작 방식을 새롭게 탐색합니다.

전시 제목은 “나를 씻어 주십시오. 내가 눈보다 더 희게 될 것입니다.”라는 구약성경 시편 51편 7절에서 가져왔습니다. 어두운 태토 위에 흰 화장토를 덧입히는 과정에서 작가는 씻어낸다는 의미와 얇은 색을 더한다는 회화적 의미를 함께 지닌 ‘Wash’에 주목하며, 분청의 전통적인 표현을 자신의 방식으로 풀어냅니다.

또한 오랫동안 이어온 ‘관계’에 대한 관심을 보다 넓은 시선으로 확장해, 자신이 바라보는 사람들의 관계에 주목합니다.

‘관계, 비밀, 그리고 동경’ 이번 전시를 이루는 세 가지 키워드 위에 새로운 재료와 방식으로 만들어낸 이하린의 변화를 FINORK에서 만나보세요.

Through figurative ceramic works, Lee Harin has continued to explore narratives of humanity, emotion, and relationships. In this exhibition, he turns to buncheong, exploring its techniques through a new approach to making.

The exhibition title is drawn from Psalm 51:7 in the Old Testament: “Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” In the process of applying white slip over dark clay, Lee focuses on the dual meaning of “wash”: to cleanse or remove, and, in painting, to apply a thin layer of color. Through this idea, he reinterprets traditional buncheong techniques in his own way.

The exhibition also broadens his ongoing interest in “relationships,” shifting his gaze toward the relationships he observes between others.

“Relationships, Secrets, and Longing.” Through these three keywords, discover a new direction in Harin Lee’s practice, shaped by new materials and methods, at FINORK.

여름의 긴 빛이 조금씩 짧아지고, 가을의 낮은 빛이 들어오기 시작합니다. 계절이 바뀌는 동안 빛의 방향과 온도도 조금씩 달라지고, aim, here의 조명, 가구와 함께 Yuki Osako의 유리 역시 그날의 빛에 따라 다르게 보입니다.

한 달 동안 빛을 가까이 바라보는 TWINKLE TWINKLE Little Star도 어느덧 후반부에 접어들었습니다.

여름의 끝과 가을의 시작이 함께하는 지금,

The long light of summer is gradually growing shorter, as the lower light of autumn begins to settle in. As the seasons change, so do the direction and warmth of the light, and Yuki Osako’s glass works, placed among the lighting and furniture at aim, here, appear differently from one day to the next.

TWINKLE TWINKLE Little Star, a month-long exhibition that invites us to look more closely at light, has now entered its second half.

At this moment, where the end of summer meets the beginning of autumn,
we share a new view of aim, here.

The exhibition continues for another two weeks, through September 26.

夏の長い光が少しずつ短くなり、秋の低い光が差し込みはじめます。季節が移り変わるにつれて、光の方向や温度も少しずつ変化し、aim, here の照明や家具のあいだに置かれた Yuki Osako のガラス作品も、その日の光によって異なる姿を見せます。

ひと月にわたり光を身近に見つめる TWINKLE TWINKLE Little Starも、いつの間にか後半を迎えました。

FINORK artist Yuki Osako is taking part in TWINKLE TWINKLE Little Star, presented at aim, here, an archive design store in Dalmaji, Busan.

The exhibition explores light through lighting objects made in a range of materials and forms, including wood, ceramic, and brass.

Lights that create illumination,
and Yuki Osako’s glass works that receive, transmit, and hold light.

첫 번째로 선보인 일본 도예가 Ryuji Iwasaki Ryuji Iwasaki 의 도자는 지금까지 많은 분들과 만나며, 서촌의 창가에서 아이웨어와 함께 공간의 한 장면을 이루고 있습니다.

ただし、FINORKが取り扱うすべての作家の作品を一つの空間に常時展示することは難しいため、ご予約の際に気になる作家やご覧になりたい作品をあらかじめお知らせいただけましたら、ご来場に合わせてご用意いたします。

ご予約を少しお手間に感じられたり、敷居が高いと感じられたりすることもあるかもしれません。それでも予約制でご案内しているのは、作品を事前に丁寧に準備し、作家や制作についてのお話を交えながら、一点一点をゆっくりとご覧いただきたいと考えているためです。

特にご覧になりたい作品がお決まりでなくても、もちろん問題ございません。FINORKの空間や作品にご興味をお持ちでしたら、どうぞお気軽にご予約ください。
