Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch post-impressionist painter, born on March 30, 1853, in Zundert, Netherlands. He is renowned for his expressive use of color and emotional depth in his artworks, despite only gaining widespread recognition after his death.
Van Gogh worked in various styles before developing his unique approach, characterized by bold brushwork and vibrant colors. He created about 2,100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings, in just over a decade. Some of his most famous works include “Starry Night,” “Sunflowers,” and “The Bedroom.”
His mental health struggles influenced both his life and art, and he famously battled depression and anxiety. Tragically, he died from a gunshot wound, believed to be self-inflicted, on July 29, 1890. Despite his short and tumultuous life, van Gogh’s influence on modern art is immense, and he remains one of the most celebrated artists in history.
