Magic Ice Cream operated by Cargills Dairies (Pvt) Ltd, extends its sincere appreciation to brothers Safri and Fimas, as well as Biodiversity Sri Lanka, for their dedicated efforts at Porutota Beach. Their commitment helps ensure that waste carried through the Ma Oya and the ocean is responsibly collected, sorted, and managed.
Through the Life to Beaches programme at Porutota Beach, a total of 5,264 kg of waste has been responsibly removed from the environment, since October 2024. This includes 1,115 kg of PET plastic and 659 kg of polythene, all of which were collected and sent for recycling.
We also extend our gratitude to the Negombo Municipal Council and the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) for their invaluable support in making these efforts possible.
These collective actions demonstrate the positive impact that can be achieved through partnership and shared responsibility. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in addressing waste, including plastic pollution, and help create a cleaner, safer world for future generations.
