Kotuwe kade was the original name obtained by Mr. & Mrs. Sumanapala's little boutique from their customers. Reason was the location, it was situated in the Fort Galle in Sri Lanka . Fort was called “Kotuwa” and the little shop that was inside the Fort was called “Kotuwe Kade”. It was in the mid 1980,s, that Sumanapala & Dharmalatha had a vision to do business with a different strategy. For them the most critical dimension was to seek a method to make a better everyday life available to the “many” not just the “few". They chose the low-price strategy, a low price is linked to the happiness of finding just what you need for your home. And the joy of being able to own it without having to scarifies everything else. By early 1990’s, they were well established in the southern province of Sri Lanka. This period was an important era, they moved to a bigger building with their first bank loan. The bigger building gave them the opportunity to become the Pioneers in the Business field, as the one and only place that offered “everything under one roof at a low price”. But quality was never compromised for the sake of cost. With the Urge to provide Sumanapala’s two daughters a better education, he decided to move to Colombo, while his two brothers took care of the store in Galle. During this move he started a little boutique at the Majestic City so he was able to understand customer needs in Colombo. After a while they expanded as the “Lady J” in Borella. How are we different from any other? We offer a wide range, good designs and low prices. The Lady J product range is wide in several ways. Mainly price and Quality. It is Convenient, because you shouldn't have to run from one small specialty shop to another. We offer “everything under one roof”.
