My Experience at a Mobile Phone Shop in Pettah Today
Today, 8 August 2026, I visited a mobile phone shop in the Pettah market because I was interested in buying a phone. I simply asked the staff about the price of a mobile phone.
Unfortunately, the way I was spoken to was very disappointing.
Instead of politely answering a customer's question, I felt that I was treated with disrespect. The situation became worse when I was accused of using bad words, even though I was only asking about the phone price.
I believe every customer deserves to be treated with basic respect and professionalism, regardless of whether they eventually purchase something or not.
A customer asking for a price is not doing anything wrong. If the price is not suitable, the customer can simply walk away. There is no need for arguments, accusations, or disrespectful communication.
Pettah is a busy shopping area visited by many local and foreign customers. Good customer service and respectful communication are very important for any business.
My purpose in sharing this is not to create a fight or insult anyone. I am sharing my personal experience because I believe businesses should listen to customer feedback and improve their customer service.
👉 Respect should always work both ways — from customer to seller and seller to customer.
I hope the shop management takes this feedback seriously and ensures that customers are treated respectfully in the future.
