SOLD ! Excellent English violin for sale by Harry Dobbs, 1968
- 2499

This excellent violin was made in 1968 by English maker Harry Dobbs , Sutton Coldfield.

Harry Dobbs (1916-1976), was quite active as maker of violins, violas and cellos, but as I was told, most of his production he sold under at least 2 different tradenames, leaving his personal label and therefore his real name reserved only for his best instruments.

In a nearly mint state of preservation for its age, some light signs of professional use (see photos)
This violin has a superb, mature & good powerful tone, with outstanding resonance. It has marvelous projection & a fast response time. It features a very well-balanced sound between the high & low registers.

It is instrument for a soloist.

Good player, easy to hold, very responding, made for player . LOB 354mm,

Fully ready to play, no further investments by luthier needed.

Serious offers are welcomed. We recently tested it in a big Symphony Hall and of course it was able to fill that room easily.

Fine English viola c1950 for sale
- 2999
Extra fine quality English post second world war viola , made by good English maker (label is gone), repaired by Edwin Horner in Morendorf who changed bass bar (signed and dated 05.12.1988 inside on table and bass bar, hard to make photos even with mirror -see photo attached). Except that repair, which probably made sound and projection even more better there are no traces of any repairs, no cracks, so condition is very good. Very good, profesional work, good tonewoods, oil varnish, condition very very good, some scratches of varnish and signs of intensive professional daily use (see photos).

It is medium size viola, length of back - 40.5. Sound is tonally very good, excellent projection. It has good deep CG strings, resonant and penetrating DA, but over all it has sound , which can really move your heart. It is really good player and easy to hold, good and fast response.
Ready to play professionally, setup is not new, but fully functional. Comes with old case for safe transportation as well as everyday use if you wish. but new one is recomended. There is also good bow included in price.

Do not hesitate to ask more info/photos or suggest a better price.
Serious offers are welcomed.

Fine very old French violin c1770 for sale made by Jean-Baptiste Grand-Gérard
-3500 EUR
This violin was made in c1770 in Mirecourt , France by Jean-Baptiste Grand-Gérard , who inscribed his name on outside back, near neck button, which was quite typical way of signing instruments . Most probably it was also labeled inside, but label is gone. As there were repairs on neck button area (neck is grafted) in 19c, it affected also signature making it now quite unreadable. It was appraised before as 18th century Vieux Paris circle instrument, but now it is confirmed as authentic instrument by Grand Gerard, also it has appraisal letter by local Latvian historical instruments expert stating same and dating it as c1770.

In an very good state of preservation for it's age - some old repairs of table and back (button and purfling), scroll , all being professionally repaired long time ago and stable , no issues on important soundpost and bass bar areas, some signs of regular professional use through centuries, also on varnish (see photos).

FANTASTIC Sounding FRENCH VIOLIN made c.1790-1800 by Remy I, with authentic brand Remy on inner back (see photos). It was recently confirmed by renowned French violin expert being authentic Remy.

In a very good shape for it's age, just signs of intense professional use - some small chips on varnish, FF, corners, somewhere in the past 2 very professionally repaired cracks in upper part of table, as well as neck has been reset (sure in 19th century) from baroque to modern standards (see photos), no cracks present on critical areas.

Fantastic, quite dark, very Romantic sound and excellent power and very good projection. Ready to play, length of back - circa 36.3, very typically for that particular maker. Quite recent setup and nearly new Eva strings, ready to play.

It is a 8th Remy family instrument we have, and looks it has been the best until right now.
We recently tested it in a big Symphony Hall and of course it was able to fill that room easily. The sound itself is wonderful, very balanced and with very good projection.

We ship only with FEDEX/TNT, fully insured. It is safest way to ship violins.
PRICE: 3900 EUR (simple violin case, insured shipping included).
