Naomi had the life everyone dreams about: the husband, the house, the children. Then he threw her out, emptied the accounts, hired ruthless lawyers, and started over with someone half his age.

She could have disappeared into a small apartment and rebuilt quietly. Instead, she becomes fixated on the woman who replaced her. What starts as bitter curiosity hardens into obsession, then into something worse. The deeper Naomi digs, the more dangerous things become and the more she’s willing to risk. The Divorce asks a question most people avoid: how far would you go to keep your family together, even if keeping it means destroying yourself?

Machiavelli emerges from these pages not as a cynic but as someone asking harder questions: How can a prince know his people without becoming one? What separates the ruler hated for his vices from one who commands genuine loyalty? He argues that virtue alone doesn’t hold power—opportunity must meet it, as with Moses or Cyrus—yet insists that glory requires faith, and that force without law reduces a prince to a beast. His real concern is stability: a ruler needs his people’s consent, not mercenaries’ loyalty, and the populace asks only to be left unoppressed. The Prince refuses easy answers about power, instead mapping the distance between what princes do and what they must do to endure.

In his journal, Nobel Prize winner John Steinbeck called East of Eden « the first book, » and the novel carries that mythic weight—the feel of a story so old it seems inevitable. Set in California’s Salinas Valley, it follows the Trasks and Hamiltons across generations, each repeating the biblical shadow of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, as if the valley itself demands the reenactment.

Adam Trask arrives from the East to farm and build a family on new land. Then his twins are born—Cal and Aaron and their mother fractures. Alone with his sons, Adam watches one boy soak up the affection of everyone around him while the other grows solitary, wrapped in something darker he cannot name.

Published in 1952, East of Eden is where Steinbeck drew his most urgent characters and pressed hardest on what obsessed him: how identity forms, why love remains inexplicable, and what violence blooms when it’s withheld. Part family saga, part modern Genesis, it is a novel that moves with the weight of genuine ambition rather than mere scope.

Briar u serie
Iris thinks she’s figured out who she is until Colin Fitzgerald, her brother’s tattooed, cocky hockey player friend, notices her. He sees a shallow girl; she sees someone who won’t let her be anything else. When her sorority sisters dare her to do the impossible, Iris can’t refuse, and suddenly she’s tangled with the last person who should matter. Between proving them all wrong and unraveling what Colin actually thinks of her, she discovers that reinventing yourself in college is messier than the glossy promise. This romantic comedy by Elle Kennedy pulls no punches about the gap between how others read you and who you actually are.

Tolstoy concludes in his book What Art, a series of studies and debates on ethics, social justice and religion. The Russian philosopher rejects the view that art reveals and restores the invention through beauty, instead of seeing that the question of what art is is essentially a religious question. It ends up with a firm belief: art must be a force for good, a means for humanity to progress and improve its conditions. Here, the Penguin version offers a reliable text fraught with introduction and critical notes from contemporary scholars.

Michael Jackson’s only autobiography traces his path from a child performer in the Jackson 5 to solo superstardom, laying bare the mechanics of his creative mind. He walks through the making of Beat It, Billie Jean, and Rock With You, explains how he invented the moonwalk, and reflects on his friendships with Quincy Jones, Paul McCartney, and Diana Ross. The book also documents his family relationships and confronts the isolation and rumors that shadowed his fame. First published in 1988, Moonwalk broke what Jackson himself called a fiercely guarded silence. The pages include rare photographs from Jackson family archives and a drawing he created solely for this book.

You can’t control what happens around you, but you can always govern how you respond. Marcus Aurelius ran history’s most fractured empire while keeping his mind intact—then wrote Meditations, a text still crackling with usefulness for anyone drowning in modern crisis. Donald Robertson takes the emperor’s core insights and braids them with contemporary psychology to show how Stoic practice actually works: how to steady yourself under pressure, build resilience, and cultivate the clarity that made Marcus Aurelius both feared and beloved. How to Think Like a Roman Emperor isn’t abstract philosophy. It’s a toolkit for anxiety, anger, grief, and the small daily betrayals that erode us. Robertson proves Stoicism isn’t resignation. It’s the opposite total command over the only thing that was ever yours to begin with: your mind.
