The ticket link is in the bio! Come join us for East Michigan's first ever Frocktails! The West Michigan event was so much fun, we couldn't let them keep all the creative goodness to themselves ;)

Join us for a lovely evening of delicious food, inspiring conversation, wonderful PRIZES, and show off your self-made garment! This is a great chance to show off a beautiful piece you made that you don't have anyplace to wear!

Just a few of my favorites from the 17th Nihon Quilt show (a Japanese show) currently touring the country. Most of the quilts were handmade and were absolutely insane levels of work and workmanship!! Many were made with vintage kimono silk.
Unfortunately, the exhibit signage was very poor, giving only the artist's name, the title, artist's location, and the awards they won in the show. So if you can't identify the fibers and techniques on your own, there is no explanation, which I think makes it much harder for less experienced viewers to appreciate what they are looking at.

Got to have my Disney princess moment today, feeding the wild birds in the park. I was so thrilled they came down to eat from my hand. Titmice, chickadees, and downy woodpeckers.

Spooky Halloween vibes!!! I think every sewist needs ones of these Seam Reaper panels!!! I think I will make mine into a jacket I can wear to sewing conventions...
What would you do with it? Hang it in your sewing room? Make a quilt? Is it for yourself or a Trick or Treat gift?

Do you love tropical biomes? I love how Forest Primeval it makes me feel! Sometimes I would not be surprised if an allosaurus strolled out of the undergrowth. The Meijer Gardens in Michigan don't have me waiting for the dinosaur, but the enormous plants always fill me with glee.

ArtPrize is officially over, and so is the inaugural Western Michigan Frocktails. I looked fabulous in my me-made kimono and linen pants, and had a lovely time at both events - and was part of the crowd to win the World Record for the Beast Attended Fashion Show at RC Jaylan's fashion show!!! What fun! Can't wait until next year!

New day, new garment 😜 This is a kimono I started ages ago, got unhappy with, and then abandoned. Tackling my UFO (UnFinished Objects) pile, and relatively happy with the result - even if it isn't perfect.

New day, new garment!! 🤣 This is my Dragon and Tiger jacket (and I have already had an offer to buy it!!), it's the Liberty jacket pattern from The Sewing Workshop (I misstated the name in the video).

They have some cute patterns, but they are quirky and even I struggled with following some of the steps in several patterns, so these are definitely NOT beginner-sewist friendly, this is more intermediate/ advanced.
