This heart belongs to no one..
no soul has made a home within these chambers.
I exist inside the confines of my own making, a castle raised from silence and survival, walls stacked high with everything I no longer speak.
Once, through a fracture, a sliver of light found its way in.. not enough to warm, just enough to remind me it exists.
And that was all it ever was…
a passing glimmer.

They ask me why I don’t date, why I don’t open doors I’ve already sealed.
I tell them I am content.. and I mean it.
Then they ask why I still write.
I tell them…

it’s the only way I know how
to gather the pieces of my past,
and release them into the unknown..
far beyond these walls,
where they can no longer echo back to me……

We fell like lightning..
no warning, no sound, our hearts caught fire before they found the ground.
You looked at me as though I was the one, and I believed you… God, I was so young.
Love like that burns too fast to last,
a match we lit, then watched collapse.
Words were thrown like shards of glass,
and when you turned away..
I cracked.
I held on while you let go, gave you more than you could ever know.
You sought comfort in another’s bed,
while I lay awake, replaying what you said.
You learned how to forget me slow,
while I drowned in the undertow.
I stayed true, but truth decayed,
and love we built began to fade.

You once swore we’d make it through every fight, but you loved me with half your heart each night.
I saw the signs , I closed my eyes,
believing love could silence lies.
Your smile hid daggers behind your teeth, your kiss turned cold, you buried me beneath. You broke the vows we never spoke, and I shattered ,quietly..
as hope broke.
I built a home inside your chest,
you let a stranger take my breath.
And now I live in empty space,
a ghost still haunting our old place.
I’m learning to forgive the man
who loved too hard without a plan.
Perhaps one day I’ll understand..
but not today… I simply can’t.
You found comfort in a body that’s not mine, while I was drowning just to keep us fine.
I gave you love, you gave regret..
a scar my soul won’t soon forget.
We fell in love like fools at war,
and I don’t believe in us anymore…..
