Researchers discovered that melittin can break apart the outer membranes of cancer cells and shut down key signaling pathways that allow tumors to grow and spread. In the lab, triple-negative and HER2-positive breast cancer cells, two of the deadliest and most treatment-resistant forms were completely destroyed within an hour of exposure.
