Native to North America, sunflowers have been cultivated for thousands of years for their seeds, oil, food, dyes and cultural significance.

Today, centuries of breeding have given us an incredible diversity of forms — from towering single blooms to branching varieties, fluffy doubles and deep burgundy cultivars.

And what looks like one flower is actually a whole community of tiny individual flowers working together.
