Sometimes a little pebble carries a very big story.
Back in the 1980’s I travelled around Australia and spent some time living at Coogee Beach. While I was there I met a lovely guy called Phil and we became great friends. As life does, it eventually took us in different directions and over the years we lost touch.
Fast forward more than 30 years… and one day Phil found me again on Facebook.
In 2017, when I had only just started painting my Herd of Jersey cow pebbles, Phil bought one. In fact, it was pebble number 4.
He named her “Coogee”, after the beach where our friendship first began all those years ago.
Phil has just travelled back to Australia and took Coogee along for the journey. She has already had quite the adventure — stopping in Doha, visiting Coogee Beach, exploring the Blue Mountains and even making it to the Sydney Opera House.
I absolutely love these photos he sent. A tiny cow pebble from Jersey travelling across the world and reconnecting two old friends.
From pebble number 4 in 2017… to over 700 today.
It just shows — you never quite know where a little cow might wander. 🐄🌍
If you have one of my Herd of Jersey cows, tell me… where has yours travelled to?
