Starting this Thursday at 6pm, Gary Thompson of Galeria Pacifico offers FREE sunset tours on the lovely seaside walkway Malecon for those who wish to discover the stories about the extraordinary public sculptures and the artists who made them.

These sunset tours begin at Galeria Pacifico's second floor location at 174 Aldama Street and end after about 1 1/2 hrs at a reception at Demetro Galeria on 169 Lazaro Cardenas Street. Every Thursday, 6pm, from mid-November to mid-April. (See video below, curtesy of Galeria Pacifico). Welcome!

BE A PART OF VALLARTA HISTORY!

Please come and join the father-daughter sculpting team Jim Demetro and Christina Demetro as they create "The Fishermen" statue. This is an opportunity to help sculpt it in clay before it is cast in bronze and donated to Puerto Vallarta for the City's 100th anniversary.

Jim Demetro and his assistant daughter Christina Demetro are the sculptors behind the iconic Vallarta Dancers statues and other art pieces that honor the Mexican culture. The Fishermen statues will be installed along the Malecon where locals fish in the mornings. The City will provide the placement of the sculpture on the walkway, while the artists raise funds to create it and have it cast in bronze. They welcome significant donors to contribute to this life size bronze statue. The sculptors are also offering a small-version, limited-edition bronze of The Fishermen at a favorable pre-cast price.

Besides selling limited-edition bronzes, the Demetros have another unique way of raising money for the project. You are invited to co-sculpt. For a donation they will give you a piece of clay that you can put on the sculpture as it is being created in life size. Thus you will become a part of the history.

As a work-in-progress, "The Fishermen" creation can be found at the Demetro Galeria at Lazaro Cardenas 169, in Zona Romantica of Puerto Vallarta. The galley is on the same street as Jim Demetro’s Andale Bernardo B***o sculpture in Lazaro Cardenas Park that many school children helped create. Beside the chance for visitors to meet the sculptors and co-sculpt The Fishermen piece, the art gallery also provides a sculpting classroom. Beginner and advanced sculpting classes continue through February and March. Master sculptor and instructor Jim Demetro provides the tools, materials and live model for students of all abilities to create beautiful figurative art.
The Demetro Galeria also has a lively Thursday artist reception in the evenings. This weekly event follows a sunset sculpture walk that starts with tour guide/owner Gary Thompson at Galeria Pacifico on 174 Adalma Street at 6 pm and ends at Demetro Galeria.

Art Receptions, Sculpting Classes, Seaside Art Walks, oh my, oh yes!

1. Come join master sculptor Jim Demetro for five-day, figurative sculpting classes on:

January 8th - 12th
January 22nd - 26th

February 5th - 9th
February 19th - 23rd

All sculpting tools, live model and clay will be provided. All levels are welcome!

2. Be a part of Vallarta history! Celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2018 by helping create THE FISHERMEN sculpture with sculptors Jim Demetro and daughter Christina Demetro:

a. With a donation of your choice, you can put a piece of clay on THE FISHERMEN sculpture to help sculpt it today!

b. You can purchase a small, limited-edition bronze of THE FISHERMEN at a precast price for your home to help raise funds for the large, public one. (See picture of the model below).
