When I was younger, I never understood how much my mother was sacrificing for my sister and me.

I was rebellious. I did everything else except study, and I definitely wasn’t the daughter who was always there to help her.
I watched her build a business from almost nothing, all so she could raise my sister and me.

Now that I’m in business myself, I finally understand how hard it really is.
And sometimes, I think about how much she must have been carrying on her own back then.
I can’t imagine how difficult it must have been.

But now that I’m here, I have one hope.
To build my mom’s business so big that everyone gets a taste of the hard work she poured into it.

A taste of her story.

Nothing came easy for Mimi.

With only RM10,000 to start her business while raising two kids, she had to make every little thing count.

But somehow, she built something that would eventually become a part of not just her children’s childhood, but so many families’ meals too.

When my sister and I were younger, my mom would always make us her dishes with our UnagiBalls. But I never really understood why.

Only today did I find out that it was because we didn’t have much money to eat out or buy other food. So she would simply use whatever we already had at home and somehow turn it into a proper meal.

It’s been such a long time since I’ve had my mom’s cooking, and this one meant so much to me.

Looking back, it’s funny how mums can take something so simple and somehow make it feel like a proper meal. They always find a way to give their best, even when they don’t have much.

Maybe that’s why a simple home-cooked meal can feel so special.

Maybe it’s true when they say moms are superwomen. 🥹

Mimi raised two kids, worked multiple jobs, and built a whole business with just RM10,000.

Did you know the UnagiBalls people love so much today… actually came from me telling my mom that her fishballs weren’t good?

I'm not proud of it but I once told my mom that she should stop selling her fishballs because even I didnt like it, why sell it to others?

But instead of taking it personally, she took it as a challenge.
She went back to the kitchen, started experimenting with the recipe, and somehow that eventually became the UnagiBall we sell today.

Honestly, I never thought one little comment from me would turn into a whole business.
But seriously guys, maybe don’t be too harsh when you criticise your mom’s cooking. You never know what she might create next. 😮‍💨😂
