A prized wild freshwater river fish from Sarawak, well-loved for its delicate white flesh, naturally rich flavour and smooth texture.

Simple preparation with ginger, light soy sauce and a little oil allows the natural sweetness and rich flavour of the wild Tengalan to shine.

The flesh is tender and silky, with pockets of natural fish fat and a distinctive sweet, earthy river-fish flavour. As with many traditional river fish, it has fine bones, so careful eating is recommended.

For extra flavour, it can also be paired with pickled mustard greens, sour plum, garlic, spring onion and coriander. 🌿
