Ant-Nest Agarwood (Gaharu Sarang Semut) is a unique, naturally formed resin resulting from the interaction between wild agarwood trees (Aquilaria) and forest ant colonies.

All species can get this formation. The one we show here from Aquilaria Hirta (Candan Bukit / Candan Bulu)

👉🏽 Natural Formation Process

1️⃣ Defense Mechanism: Ants burrow and create tunnels inside the trunk or roots. In response to this physical damage and the bacteria carried by the ants, the tree secretes a thick protective resin (agarwood).

2️⃣ Structural Decay: Over time, the soft, uninfected wood surrounding these tunnels rots away, while the resin-rich portions remain intact. This leaves behind intricate, hollowed-out structures.

1️⃣ High Resin Density: The deep brown-to-black coloration and tight grain indicate a mature, high-quality concentration of agarwood oil.

2️⃣ Natural Aesthetic: The hollow channels and organic sculpting give it a distinct, one-of-a-kind appearance that cannot be artificially replicated.
