☀️ Light Roast: Finer
🌙 Dark Roast: Coarser
In Simple Terms: The Goal is Balance
The main reason we change the grind size is to control how fast the water takes the flavor out of the coffee, which is called extraction.
Light Roast (Hard Bean): Needs a finer grind for the water to get enough flavor out.
Dark Roast (Soft Bean): Needs a coarser grind to prevent the water from taking too much flavor out (which makes it taste bitter or burnt).
