In 1985, I started my tailoring journey as a student learning Indian fashion, Malay dresses, Chinese dresses, modern wear, curtains and many more. I never imagined that one day, after decades of hard work, I would be honoured with the “Thaiyal Nayagi” Award 2026❤️🧵
I started my tailoring business in 1986 with nothing but passion and determination. In 1990, I went to Singapore to continue learning saree blouse tailoring because I always believed learning should never stop.
Over the years, I had the opportunity to sew Bharathanatiyam costumes, Tamil school curtains, kindergarten uniforms, temple curtains, saree blouses and many more. In 1991, I also started tailoring classes to share my knowledge with others.
Today, after 42 years in tailoring service — 20 years working from home and 22 years running my own shop — I am still learning and improving myself. In 2025, I completed SKM Level 2 and also continued my studies under KEMAS for a Gourmet Certificate.
This award is not only my achievement. It belongs to everyone who supported, trusted and believed in me throughout this journey. Every stitch carries my hard work, sacrifices, tears, and love for this profession.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey. This award motivates me to continue inspiring others and to keep doing what I love most. ❤️
