📷 Sony cameras can finally output Live Photos directly!

After much anticipation, Sony has finally released an update that allows supported cameras to create Live Photos directly in-camera.

Previously, Live Photos captured on a smartphone often looked soft and lacked detail when played back. Now, every frame from the camera is much sharper, delivers better image quality, and even supports LUTs, making your Live Photos stand out on social media.

Here’s how to set it up:

1️⃣ Update Sony Creators’ App

* Update Sony Creators’ App to the latest version.
* Open the app and tap Import.
* Go to Settings.
* Find “Import Settings for Videos with Shot Mark”.
* Select “Trim and Import as Live Photo.”

2️⃣ Set up your Sony camera

* Open the camera MENU.
* Go to the Toolbox tab.
* Select Custom Operation.
* Choose Custom Key/Dial Settings.
* Assign one of your preferred custom buttons.
* Select Photo Custom 1/2/3.
* Find the Movie Camera icon.
* Choose Select/Memo.
* Set it to Add Shot Mark 1.

3️⃣ Import the Live Photo

* Return to Sony Creators’ App.
* Tap Import.
* Locate videos marked with an “S” icon.
* Import them to your phone. ✅
